Lazor using Egnew as a WR more

Lynch is already the best combo of run blocking, pass protection, blitz pick up, presenting a big target, settling into th soft spots in zones and running proper routes. That is the Swiss army knife.

He certainly isn't the best at each of those, but collectively he is that versatile weapon that allows the OC to be very unpredictable and take advantage of mismatches. Because, no matter what is needed the OC has swiss army knife TE that can set it up.

The TE is THE position that enables mismatches. That's what Lazor is all about ... and Sims isn't very good. Clay is one dimensional.

Clay and Lynch are the only 2 TE's who are assured a roster spot.

In all due respect, Lynch has shown nothing vs NFL talet, and may or may not be that swiss army knife. AHe did not last until the 5th round because teams, including Miami, thought him to be a sure thing to make the roster, let alone impact it. I also disagee on Sims.
 
The irony, to me, is that Egnew definitely seemed to improve his toughness and was using his size and strength to productive ends. I was getting into the idea of seeing him as an H-back who could open a hole or split out and beat a DE down the field. I hope the versatility and ability to fool a defense is not thrown out the window.

Dion Sims kinda seems like the odd man out, IMO. We drafted a blocking TE, we have Clay as the skill guy H-back, and we have a guy like Egnew who can do a bit of both. Dion Sims was not a good enough blocker to play in-line well, is not athletic enough to be an elite redzone target
 
I can see double te sets with clay and egnew all of a sudden no huddle, turning into 4 wide shotgun going all verticals with moreno taking draws and flat screens. Egnew at hback is retarded

Sorry but Egnew wouldn't even Crack my top 6 receiving threats on this team if I am running a four wide set.
 
Yeah me neither but in terms of multiple looks on the same no huddle drive its possible.
 
Quick question then: what lineup gives us the most versatility to switch through multiple formations within a drive no huddle?

Hartline----Wallace----Gibson---Clay----Moreno

All should be able to line up inside and outside with Clay being able to switch between slot, inline, and in the back field....

I prefer Hartline, Wallace, Clay, Gator Hoskins, Moreno.

That way, we can have 7 big men on the line. That's a lot of blocking mass in the middle.

Or we can have a 4 receiver set, with all 4 being able to catch the deep ball in stride.

Its ok. We disagree. But as I see it, Lynch wins this one vs. Sims by default. I'm not saying Lynch is Gronkowski, because he clearly isnt. Lynch is just a better run blocker an pass protector than Sims and also a better receiver although he has a lot of room for improvement.

Lynch is not fast. The "in" thing these days is to go for speed TE's that are essentially possession WR's and seam threats. The in line TE's aren't in demand.

Furthermore, Lynch, like many college kids, is inconsistent. If he were fast and consistent he would be Zack Ertz. The NFL would still prefer Eric Ebron over Zack Ertz in a draft because Ebron is more athletic ... but Ertz us more of a Lazor style player.

As for Sims, he is big and lumbering, but neither a good blocker nor receiver. I do not see much from him for the future.

Why is it that fans are pigeon holing Sims as just a blocking back? I believe Lazor will get the most use out of him something that Sherman and Philbin couldn't do.
 
Depends, I think I would run with Wallace, Hartline, Gibson, Clay and Moreno. I also wouldn't mind taking a back out in some situations and throwing Sims or Lynch in for a short to medium threat/blocker or even going with Landry in a five wide set if we are just going to air it out.
 
Egnew had a college career of making catches. Sims also made plenty of catches at Michigan State. Why is it that Sherman seemed scared to get them into the play and throw them the ball? Very rarely were they given a chance.
I expect that Arthur Lynch makes the roster before both of them.

I respect your opinion brother, but I think this is Sims year to shine. I believe Lazor with be great for the TE group. It will come down to who wants it more. It is time for the Miami Dolphins offense to be innovated and trouble for opposing defenses. I was listening to XM radio that other day and they brought a great point about the Bill Walsh offenses that they came to the line quickly and got the ball hiked so quick the defenses didn't have time to adjust at the line. I would like to see Miami go that route.
