Main reason not to start Tannehill: the WR's

Dont take this offensively, but i hate cliche's like this. Sure good qb's do make players better in the sense that they provide confidence, have the ability to put the ball in ideal spots,

but a qb isnt going to help a receiver learn how to seperate or burn his db. If no one is open, what can the qb do?

Tannehill can! :foundout:

Sharp, the title of this thread is Main reason not to start Tannehill: the WR's. It appears to me that your original reply to this thread agrees with and defends that sentiment. If not, what exactly ARE you advocating we do? OK, looking at your reply to me it appears that you agree that we are indeed in a pickle, with not much to lose by starting the best QB available, regardless of how good his wide receivers are?

Just because I reply to the thread and say the WRs aren't good doesn't mean that I agree with the OP. My opinion was start Tannehill, I'm sure he can make the best out of what we have, but how good can that be?

I agree that the WRs are not a great group, I do not agree with the OP to not start Tannehill. We have nothing to lose. The point was, If they throw him in the fire this year or next, you cannot maximize the results until you get him more talent. The expectations have to be lowered because of the probably level of success that is going to be achieved with this WR group. We know what Moore is, he is better than Henne, he is a capable to decent NFL QB, but he is too inconsistent. We expect to see consistency from Tannehill but I believe he will be restricted to a maximum limit by the talent of the WRs.

We have to work with the wr's we have... Just because they have a lot to prove does not mean we shouldn't give T-Hill a chance. I personally think Moore will beat out T-Hill at the beginning of the year, and then the rookie takes the reins if the season gets out of control.

WHAT does Roberto Wallace look like?

"What..Does..Roberto..Wallace..Look..Like"?

"Does he look like a b***h?"
"What?'
"Does..He..Look..Like..A..B***C"?
"Noooooo"
"Then why you tryin to *&^% him like a b***h Brett"?

tbh I don't care whether we start Tannehill or not this year, for the simple reason I believe Philbin, Sherman and the boys know a bit more about coaching and developing talent than me. If Tannehill starts the first game or doesn't start any games this year or somewhere in between I'm fine with that. The suggestion that how strong our WRs are should determine whether to start Tannehill or not is ludicrous though, I agree with a previous poster the strength of the Oline is much more important.

Chad was going to be the savior hugh...no one else can emerge I guess since they aren't 1st rounders or a big ticket free agent

hes not saying that it cant be done with the young guys ,all he is saying is that it will be a whole lot tougher with guys that dont have the experence to know when a QB is in trouble , (when to maybe cut a route short because of a blits ,or to come back to the QB when he is in trouble,) all the vets that have been there and done that knows when to come bk and help out your QB , imo we do need to find a WR (vet preferably ) to help tanny or whoever is bk there ,to bail them out when they get into tough spots .

OK sharp, sorry for the misunderstanding. It seems we are pretty close to agreement. Hey, at least we had fun expressing and clarifying what we really think about the situation!! :brewskis:

I would make the complete opposite argument. It is important that Tannehill start and have time with the wrs. Timing can only occur with time together. I disagree that they are so bad he shouldn't start which is what I perceive is the point here.

Thats why we post here, its good to challenge others, welcome to the forum as I see your relatively new

I don't think we have an option in FA that is a difference maker at this point. We can sign a guy like Plax but I'm not even sure how much that helps. I would like to see what some of the young guys can do as I believe a guy like Wallace can develop into a legitimate NFL option at WR. But some of our later picks or guys like pruitt may just really be what they were supposed to. I hope for the best but we need to get a guy with great potential like Tannehill has, so he can grow with him. Like your Ryan/White/Jones thing.

whos to say that one of the WRs on the team wont break out and have a solid season if given the chance??

the poster is completely over reacting. who cares about patriot wide recievers? the dolphins will be in the playoff hunt in december because of these guys will you still be slagging them then?

The third year is the time when wide receivers get it. I predict that Wallace is going to blow up and become a legit #1 and become what the Dolphins need. Give this head coach and his assistant coaches some time - Rome wasnt built in a day men.

Fans care about stats, Not Good QBs, Not Coaches, Not Gms. We're doing the same thing here that the browns are going to try with Weeden. building from the center out. which makes the most sense having great Wrs, and then having a ****ty line and the qb doesn't have time to throw the ball? ideally you'd put the Qb out there with probowl talent all around him, but no team outside of a few dynasties has that luxury.

I think that you greatly underestimate our O-line. In Long, Pouncey and Martin we now have the infrastructure in place to make this one of the team's strengths. The turnstile, Mark Columbo has departed. Don't judge the O-line just on last year's performance.
