Marino Hates Bubble Screens And I Do Too

Wow. First of all good for you being young! But yea -- played through HS and watched football from the mid 60s through Marino's era -- and for my dime he was the single most dominant MACHINE ever on the field. Sure, you have Butkass and Lawrence Taylor, and some great RBs etc. but the rest of the QB pack is "unspectacular" when directly compared to Dan.

Here's a really good example of what Dan could do -- and how devastating his talent was -- all the way back to 1984. I hope you watch the whole game.

Some notes:

  1. I think that #13 might be a keeper.
  2. Head coaches didn't have big magical sheets or surface tablets.
  3. Announcers were still terrible.
  4. I saw about 3 concussions.
  5. There was a lot less celebrating by offense and defense.
  6. Haven't seen an offensive line switch stances like that before.
  7. Riggins could barely walk...this was week 1?
Thanks, that was fun. A completely different game than what we see now.

I remember Buffalo used to kick our ass with those bubble screens back in the day with Thurman Thomas, and Jim Kelly.
