Baseball attendances have been dwindling for years and the Owners of the Marlins and MLB officials believe that more people would come out for ball games if the games were played in Downtown Miami. Where as in football, the popularity of the sport is so immense that it really doesn't matter for attendence if the stadium is centrally located or not. On QAM, I don't remember who said it, but someone said that not having a baseball stadium in Miami is killing the franchise in every aspect and as soon as they get the new stadium, that this franchise could compete year in and year out. Also the guy said that if the Marlins would indeed get a new stadium, that would open the doors for new renovations to PPS that would give them more of an advantage (ie new set of closer seats, easier groundskeeping etc). Here's to a new stadium that would benefit the Dolphins and the Marlins.
