Martin doesn't want to return to Dolphins

It is not fair for him to just walk freely to the team of his choice and leave the Dolphins with firings, suspensions and possible draft pick penalties. Please Miami, make it as difficult on Martin as you can.

Being that he is on his rookie contract, he would have to clear waivers first. His contract is very cheap, so if he clears waivers, I doubt he gets picked up at all.

damn I'm just torn to pieces over that good riddance to that f****** jack off.

How does that work out though?

If the Fins want to retain him but Martin wants to go elsewhere?

Would that force Martin to retire or sit out until his contract expires?

I understand the PR side of things and media disaster etc, but contractually speaking

Don't release him.

**** him over as long as we can. Make him look even more of a quitter if he chooses to sit out

If we cut him, would be still be paying his salary?

Yes, until some other team picks him up and whatever they pay him will be deducted from our payment.

Yes, he would have to sit out if he refuses to play. Miami has exclusive rights to him for the remainder of his contract.

The Dolphins have his rights for the next two seasons, so they can easily say "Play for us or no one". It is up to Jonathan if he wants to report to the Dolphins and play for them or stay away from the team. If he decides to stay away from the team, they can fine him each day he doesn't show up.

It might be easier to trade him or release him from a PR standpoint and possibly just wishing to wash their hands of him. My guess is he won't be on the roster this season one way or another.

You all know we do not want him back anyway. Hickey, Philbin and Ross were just being politically correct. Believe me, everyone is happy here. I just wish we could at least get a conditional pick for him.

I saw this coming. Its time to **** this clown over and refuse to release him, much like Cinci did with Carson Palmer.

Unfortunately this route would only harm the Dolphns's rep more. It's just time to cut our losses and rid ourselves of this tumor

If we release the baby, can she sign with any team? Or have to go they waivers?

Release him if that is what he wants. Be done with it.

I am glad the Dolphins took the stance that they "wanted" him back. The fact that Martin's agents are the ones demanding out works out perfectly for the Dolphins. So that means Miami can explore a trade or just release him without more media backlash for getting rid of the "victim".

If I were the Dolphins I would hold onto him as long as possible. Make him sweat it out and try everything to get something in return for him. C'mon - that's just revenge talking, not common sense. If we did that, it would:

a) Make us look like hardballing, vengeful bullies (at least in the court of public opinion), and be a PR nightmare.
b) Open us to attacks or retaliation on a number of fronts including fans, public interest groups, even the league.
c) Re-open the possibility of legal action by Martin against the team.

We've pretty much all agreed that we don't want Martin back. Now that he says he doesn't want back, isn't the proper course of action obvious?

Jonathan Martin's agents issued a statement in response to my story on their meeting with the Dolphins, saying what I wrote was not true...

The statement from Rick Smith, Martin's agent: "We have no idea where you got this information, but it wasn't even close."

"We'd appreciate it if everyone backed off and allowed the process to happen organically."

THANK GOD ALMIGHTY, HE'S FREE AT LAST!!!

and good ridance.

ya know, martin is about to get hit with a huge reality. he is going to find out that what he did hasnt sat well with other locker rooms and he wont be welcome with any open arms IF some gm decides to hire him. he is on an nfl island.

and frankly, i would be worried about bringing him in if i am another club. he cant play in the nfl. he is not physically or mentally an nfl player. i think he had come to that realization and that was the catalyst for his exit. and when he is released by that team when he bombs, they could be involved in some sort of litigation with mommy martin calling FOUL!!

oh well. he's outta here. lets gets some sod on our scorched earth and move on.

Miami doesn't want him back either. Saying that they would be interested in bringing him back is legal and PR posturing only.
