Marvez: McAdoo to take Giants OC job

I don't believe Philbin is on a hot seat, its not any hotter than the average NFL head coaching job anyway.

I agree with you. Ross has displayed great confidence with Philbin and I'm sure that would reflect in any interview/meeting.

Timing is perfect to get an experienced OC like Kyle Shanahan. Remember he was a decent OC before he went to the Redskins and then he had the unfortunate triple whammy of (a) the pure hell of working for his Dad, (b) OC to the biggest diva QB in the whole NFL coming back from ACL injury and surgery with control over (c) the second most meddling owner in the NFL, Daniel Snyder (close second to Jerry Jones).
Whoever gets Kyle Shanahan is getting him at the right time. I'm comfortable if he is appointed.

None of the above. If someone was scared away from this job, IMO, it was because:

1. Not sure the team has adequate personnel (OL, RB being the two biggest concerns).
2. Joe Philbin is a presumed lame duck head coach.
3. Not sure what's going on with the front office shakeup.

If you are a young and unproven guy like McAdoo with other options, wouldn't you want to go some place where you'd feel a lot better about having two years on the job? With proven offensive talent to work with? A team with a stable front office and two time Super Bowl winning coach that the ownership at this point just doesn't want to fire?

Tom Coughlin is back for ONE MORE YEAR.

Why do you feel his job is any more secure then Philbins? What you think Coughlin is gonna be back in NY if they miss the playoffs again?

coughlins gone if new york craps out again...but they usually come back in a big way after a crap season...and i think personally that teams are gonna be more ready for chip kellys tempo offense in 2014 now that they got a years worth of tape on it...but damn is that a good looking oline they have put together in philly...i'd kill for it

Right...but to suggest that McAdoo went to New York because the Coach there was more secure then "Lame Duck" Philbin is beyond moronic.

yeah i dont see that...a more established qb may be a part of it...but one that also is coming off like leading the league in picks in 2013...hard to say but i would agree the stability there doesn't seem to be any different

yeah the pistol and read op run game were nasty...no doubt...but the qb played pinball in the pocket with a gimp leg pretty much all season...accumulation of all that contact they ran him to in 2012...that and he was forced to stand in the pocket more cause the legs were not a threat to the opposition

rg3's body could not sustain that...neither can ryan tannehills if anyone needs a year of as little contact as possible it's ryan tannehill in 2014 but hopefully even shanny if he came here would recognize not to let him take it as a ball carrier at least...

I'd rather see the phins go back and use a certain feline formation as opposed to the zone read, veer, whatever.

Rodgers and Peyton have lined up in pistol formation. Why not Tannehill? It would utilize his mobility. Not to mention how mediocre the OL has been.

The only reason not to come here imo is philbin is on a hot seat. He could get fired next year and that means the entire staff he hired would be gone. As for GM, i think it is fairly attractive

They won't all be fired if they are under contract.

Regardless of the reasons all these guys going elsewhere is painting the Dolphins as the place not to be. The Ireland excuse is gone. Ross is willing to spend money so it's not a cheap owner syndrome working here either. So that leaves Aponte and Philbin as the main suspects. Looks really bad on Philbin that he does not instill enough confidence in one of his own coworkers from Greenbay that the guy takes the New York job immediately after the Phins interview. Well smells like another lame duck year coming up for the Phins.

ever evolving all right....:bobdole:

Way to keep it pithy.

they ran the guy to so much contact he was a shell of himself to start the 2013 season...that guys game completely revolves around the threat of his legs and his quick acceleration and they did absolutely nothing to try and preserve that...and i mean nothing

I think they did a great job because that was the ONLY way RGIII could find success. They did not do that with any of their other QB's. I will take the Shanahan's side and you can have RGMe.

I would be shocked if Kyle did that with RT. If he did, it is on Joe to make sure it is at least limited. I see RT being used like Jake Plummer and Matt Schaub…and I like that.

The Giants HC is no more secure than Miami.

The difference IMO is the Giants had an offer on the table and Miami did not. Perhaps that is indecisiveness perhaps we are holding out for Kubiak

I agree with you on the Kyle Shanahan thing. Running RGIII into contact essentially lead to him getting canned. Why on earth would he repeat that strategy in Miami.

Tom Coughlin will coach that team as long as he wants….TWO Super Bowls allow for that. Joe? With a new GM? No excuse year…NY is the safer gamble.

Coughlin is gone if he misses the playoffs again dude. If you care to wager on that....we can.

Two Super Bowls didnt keep Shula safe from Jimmy Johnson.
