Matt Roth A Unstoppable Force

That 1st season prediction isn't worth a handful of beans.
It does not matter how much you watch...if the Bills got him we wouldn't hear a word of this from you. Oh, it would be the opposite totally if a Fin Fan bashed him and all of a sudden your "diehard buckeye" credentials would certify you saw a beast out there with no equals.

Get over yourself
:rolleyes2

"Wahhhhhhhhh! I didn't like what i hear! I disagree, i think Roth will set the sack record and have 200 tackles based on...well...nothing. "

Why don't you get over the fact that he's a rookie playing on a team with one of the best pass rushers in the game, and plenty of FA vets...

You don't hear a word about the Bills draft because there aren't threads about it. I don't care if you respond to my posts, but why be stupid about it, i didn't say anything wrong...and i bet if you asked the majority of people who know anything about football they'll tell you the same.

It isn't the strength that I like about Matt Roth. It is his first step. It is rare to see a down lineman with a first step that quick. It is absolutely amazing. That alone will get him a sack or two.

:D and you cant teach that you either have it or you dont.

Why is it that when somebody brings up a realistic argument (Losman7) fans here must attack him? I understand if he said "Roth sucks, the Dolphins are stupid for drafting him", but his argument is completely legitimate. Do us all a favor and quit the rash attacks, they give this board a bad reputation.

I'm really arguing anything, except the fact that Roth isn't in Taylors league....at least not yet.

I just try and give my opinion, and I don't think it was that bad...Roth will have outstanding plays, and some bad plays while adjusting to the pros...he's not just going to come in and dominate...Taylor didn't even do that.

That's what I'm trying to say, you were attacked for an opinion that was incredibly realistic and not critical of the Dolphins team; I just don't understand why this has to happen.

It also took Taylor years to get into Taylor's league. Roth may get there, but I doubt he will as a rookie.

Some people on the board are expecting a lot from a rookie...I think the sky is the limit but he is still a rookie.

Dude relax, I think most of us agree the "unstoppable force" line was over the top, but your criticisms of Roth are also over the top.

You have the right to your opinion, but your no expert and Kelsay has nothing to do with what will happen to Roth.....one is not tied to the other.

I apologize if i offended anyone, i know JT is out #1 player, but in the future if things are bright, and if you notice i did put in HOPEFULLY he will be better if not at the same level as JT. Now JT is an animal, but you have to admit his lankyness puts him at a disadvantage, sure he can outrun linemen, but if a lineman gets a good hit on him, JT can maybe take the hit, but alot of times i see him on the floor, especially in the Pats game which we won 29-28, now he did have a great game, but Matt Light was giving him a hard time. Im taking nothing away from JT im a huge fan and i think he is the best DE in the NFL but he is rather scrawny and light, when Matt who is a prototype DE from the looks of it, may have more of a advantage in the sense that he can withstand bigger hits. Now saying that he will over persue a RB on Play Actions is going a little over the top, he will, but so does everyone else, i see JT doing it, Zach, even Seau overpursueing thats the whole point, its supposed to fake you. Now a meathead is just generalizing a person, thats never right, so im just saying that i believe he will have a great career, and im just a overjoyed Dolfan knowing what we got Kevin Carter, Jason Taylor, and Matt Roth on the same team. That is a formula for success on the defensive side of the ball. Rookie or not, he will have a 7+ sack season even if he plays a little. He will do very well, and if you notice Ogunleye had a good season 2 years ago because of JT, so Matt will have a good one i believe as well, since JT gets doubled alot, now look at Ogun he hasnt done anything for the bears, because JT is our cornerstone. So im not degrading JT but if Ogun had that kind of success you can bet that Matt will too.

You may not agree, but they weren't over the top. These are widly recognized flaws in his game, its not like I made them up, I read scounting reports. Lots of them.

He has lots of upside, and he'll probably end up being a very good NFl player.

I was watching some highlight videos of Matt's career at Iowa and let me tell you, the guy is POWERFUL, and SCARY. I feel bad for any linemen that goes up against him. They are comparing him to the likes of Dick Butkus (hard hitting), Ray Lewis (energetic and crazy in games), Warren Sapp (in your face personality), and he has a mentality of take no prisoners. On the field Roth says he says he treats the other player as an enemy, and after the game he'll befriend him, but on the field, its all about War. Personally I think he was one of the biggest steals in the draft. I love Jason Taylor, but Matt is gonna be better, because hes stronger, and can withstand bigger linemen better, and hes just as fast. We have got huge potential on this team, after this last DRAFT I personally think it was the best Draft we ever had since drafting Marino because this draft solidifies hopefully 4 super stars, Ronnie Brown, Channing Crowder, Matt Roth, and Anthony Alabi. Not taking anything away from out draft before of JT, Zach, Chambers, and Surtain, but personally i think we had the best overall draft in the league. We concentrated on key points and are ready for the future, can't wait for this season. What do you guys think?

Slow down Newbie, lets not get ahead of ourselves, Alabi isnt really a superstar, and Rothnill be good, But I doubt he will be better than JT.They will compliment one another.

Success...Most likely. next Jason Taylor.....highly doubtful.

Take a look at these pre draft analysises of another high motor DE taken in the second round:

http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/kelsay_chris

Kelsay played on a worse defense, and many of the things said about him are identical to that said about Roth. They are about the same size, stregth and speed.

Now don't get me wrong, Kelsay is going to be a fine player, he started showing alot halfway through his 2nd season (took out Pennington) but kelsay, just like Roth are going to take time.

You think you may be a little biased, based on your avatar?

"took out Pennington" oh he must be good!!!

if one of us said...the turf took out Losman (broken leg)...all you JiLL Fans would be :fire:

GO FINS!!!

Another brilliant, completly off topic post by Sal.

Shouldn't you stick to the depths....you know...where you don't have to actually make sense.

He has a very nice first step he isnt just a "power" player a lot of his rushes where effective because he got the linemen off-balance before he ever made contact he could be a pretty good situational pass-rusher for us this year...I agree he needs to ad more moves to his game but so does nearly every DL that gets drafted. No he will never be another Taylor he isnt the athlete JT is but he could easily become another Trace Armstrong and Id be very pleased with that.

Taylor is the fastest guy off the ball, which could be argued with Freeney as well. Trace armstrong I think is one of the more underrated players. Armstrong rarely made mistakes and was solid against the run and the pass. Why is there so much hype about Roth?....almost reminds me of the hype about Tony Mandarich way back in the late 80's?
