Maybe Ireland was right for asking Dez if his Mom was a prostitute?

I think a point blank question like that is appropriate.

I think we're just gonna have to agree to disagree on this one.

That said, I also don't think Jeff is the horrible villain he's made out to be. He said something dumb that offended the guy he was interviewing. Dez was likewise a dope for making a big stink about it.

And Ryan's right. Why are we even talking about this? I feel like a putz for talking about this the day after a huge win over the Patriots with this team 3-0 in December and having a legit shot to make the playoffs. And I'm not talking some fake-ass playoff berth like we got gifted in 2008 with a team that was squeaking by 2-14 scrubs and didn't have a single win vs a legit team. This team can beat some people.

was his mom a crack smoking prostitute or not? this is a busineas and if your investing millions in something wouldn't u wanna know everything about it? its not like Ireland just came out and asked if she was a hooker, the media took it out of context

He DEZ BRYANT, told IRELAND that his dad was a pimp and his mom worked for him. So the next logical question was to ask if she was a prostitute.

I'd agree

"the media took it out of context" is why Ireland should not have said it and in hindsight I am sure he would agree with. The media was attemting to paint a racitst situation to run up their ratings was their motive.

how's it racist? all crack head prostitutes are black?

i hope everyone here who posted that Ireland's prostitute question gets judged on their parents sins as well. This country was formed in part that a man would be judged on his actions not if he was high born or low born to do otherwise is show how how you believe in caste, class and creed that make you a better person. Is Dez Bryant a saint? No obviously not but to blame him or even try to correlate his upbringing to his modern day antics is the absolute definition of being un-American and it's against the law and against the ****ing constitution. And if you think your parents have no sins in their back pocket you need to re-evaluate your intelligence

wtf are you going on about? everything you just said made zero sense.

How many grown up normally functioning sons out there attack their mommies? The mere fact that Dez did and it escalated into a police-involved incident IMO in hindsight justifies any GMs prudence in getting the full picture with full disclosure before doling out multi $millions. Obviously he's from a dysfunctional background with questionable role-models having a high potential of hanging on with tentacles deeply embedded in his newly rich pockets for a payday. Jerry Jones had to hire a full time babysitter for him I believe. Now if his mother has at least a 10 year police history with crack, it's possible he's afflicted with the crack equivalent of fetal alcohol syndrome influencing his thinking and judgment processess. FWIW, Richard Pryor grew up in a whorehouse and while it didn't impact his ability to reach the pinnacle of comedic success, OTOH he wasn't the most stable guy around either.

"test his character" by asking if his mom was a prostitute, Seriously???

What about the character of the person asking the question when he already knew the answer! Please tell me how the parents character automatically equals the sons character? Some of us must be high on Ireland after a win but this was never a classy/good move and there is no justification of it regardless of how Dez Bryant ends up. Just look at how it has negatively affected Ireland's reputation and relationship with players and tell me it was a good call with a straight face..

I am not an Ireland basher but lets call a spade a spade, dude is not a nice warm hearted guy that players and people around the League love..

Mainly because of this comment....
Dude seriously, use your brain. Why do you think he asked him that?? The question he already knew the answer to was to find out how Dez would respond. If he can't take it behind closed doors how will he handle it on the field. I think we now know the answer. Brilliant move by Ireland, I only wished he would have been "INSENSITIVE" enough to ask Martin if he secretly wore pink panties.

Do you really want a lesson in civics and employment law?
do you really want a lesson on what kind of background check you're like to perform on a 1st round draft pick that is going to cost an nfl owner millions of dollars? Better yet before you go off about civics and employment law, why don't you do some research on locker rooms (should be easy with Richie and martin on our minds) and what Charles haley put teammates through.

 Not a clue...

So let's go through this nice and slow , and we will all discover through the magic of intelligence. Why it is wrong to ask Dez Bryant if his mother is a prostitute and because no matter what the stakes are it is illegal. Ok everyone there is more than one form of discrimination. Race discrimination is one and is a major one but it does not apply here. Can anyone name other forms of discrimination?
