Yes, Randy has missed blocks. But thats not his only job. I sit here and read about people posting up numbers saying how bad someone is, then I also hear people say that numbers don't matter.
Fine, he can be ranked 5th overall out of 105 TE's. But if he misses a block and thus causes a fumble, does that negate his catches? Good question, to you it might be yes. But you're only picking parts of the picture that you want to better your argument. Lets look at it all. Lets say he missed a block and thus caused a fumble. Fine. But lets also look at the receiving he did that enabled a touchdown, or the catches for first downs, etc. We can't just pick certain plays and say he's terrible overall, or that he's great overall.
Yes, he should block better. And I think he'll be learning that more as this new team progresses. But to crucify him and completely forget the positives is not justified.
Here's my question. How many times did he miss a block that caused a sack? Now, you MUSt compare this with EVERY OFFENSIVE LINEMAN that did the same. Oh, don't forget that Randy must also be a receiver as well. The line blocks, plain and simple, nothing more nothing less. Big contract, eh, I"m not the coach or the GM. I could care less.
But there are a ton of other players that need more help that aren't contributing as compared to 81.
