McMike - Are you kidding me?

Why of course not, he hasn't made your lil' boy under center look like a superstar. That should ring a bell for you and your lil' boy. The Birdman.

Come on. Anyone that has watched the games knows he has been dropping key passes at alarming rate without a noticable decline. It seems to me that he has actually degressed some.

P.S. I haven't seen a QB that I really liked since Marino.

I like McMichael and do believe he's a top 10 TE in this league but top 5 may be stretching it. IMHO a top 5 player at their position should never look like the worst player on the field like Randy did on Saturday preseason or not. He needs to play consistantly before I can give him the top 5 nod whether he led a very bad offensive team in receptions last year or not. Randy McMichael has always been a "golden boy" on finheaven who can't do no wrong. Some posters need to open there eyes as I can name 2 or 3 games right off the top of my head that we lost where had McMichael made a play, the play he was supposed to make, we could have won. I don't care what he does this season, if he's inconsistant the Dolphins shouldn't give him a big contract.

I heard the same things about JT just two years ago. Nothing ever changes, just the name of the player that gets the nod as the punching bag.

Nice post. The "great" ones always shine no matter how the deck is stacked against them. "The cream always rises to the top", so to speak.

I have never, ever criticized Jason taylor in any way. IMHO Comapring Taylor to McMichael is like comparing apples and oranges. I'm always been confident that Jason is mentally in every game 100%. I'm not so sure I can say the same for Randy not to mention the off the field problems. Randy McMichael is a very good top 10 TE in this league I just don't think he's been as great as some people believe he is. He has the potential to reach that kind of a level but hasn't done that yet. I've felt for at least 2 or 3 seasons that JT was the best or at least top 3 or 4 DE's in the NFL.

Is this guy still waiting for a big time contract? My guess is that he plays out his last year with the Phins and moves on because he has not shown he is worth big money. I'm not just listing the drop passes after being able to watch the last game finally but he got BLOWN over by a LB. Are you kidding? He got run over for a big sack on Frerotte. I know our Oline looks bad but they aren't getting much help from this guy. He was consistently pushed back when he stayed in to block. Add the drops and while I like his fire he is not proving to be a big time TE. Real disappointing to me. How can we be dominant up front when you have a center who gets pushed back almost every down and a TE would gets knocked on his backside half the time. That's 1/3 of the line that is pretty useless blocking. Add McDougal who was just painful to watch and I can see why there was one change and possibly more on the way. I know I may get ripped for this but IMO we need to give up the catching ability of McMike to get some much needed blocking. We have WR's and RB's that can make plays BUT if we don't get some blocking soon we may score less than last year. Now I understand why Lee is still around - cause compared to McMike he is a blocking machine.

mcmike is an asset to our offense

My appologies, LithoMan. I had you in the wrong category.

Here is your true category, nothing wrong with it mind you, to each their own I always say. Nothing against you at all. If you are Birdman, we had some cool discussions in the lounge a while back.

NFL teams dont trade away very good players in the last year of their contracts with noone worth a damn to replace him, just to get some value for a guy who you THINK wont resign with the team.

i do it in madden, but this isnt madden.

Didn't we have a guy named Surtain?

I wish you guys would stop quoting Litho.
He's on my ignore list, so his original posts don't show up. But, every time you quote him I see his post and am reminded why the ignore function is a beautiful thing.

IMO, why ignore? It only takes seconds to read most posts. I would rather hear what everyone has to say. I can recognize a knowledgeable post versus one that means nothing in about the first 2 seconds, usually. I would rather see if someone has the guts to say something to my face rather than make their post invisible to "me only". JMO.

I guess to each their own.
I get tired of people who do nothing but post crap, and that's all he ever does.

Yes, Randy has missed blocks. But thats not his only job. I sit here and read about people posting up numbers saying how bad someone is, then I also hear people say that numbers don't matter.

Fine, he can be ranked 5th overall out of 105 TE's. But if he misses a block and thus causes a fumble, does that negate his catches? Good question, to you it might be yes. But you're only picking parts of the picture that you want to better your argument. Lets look at it all. Lets say he missed a block and thus caused a fumble. Fine. But lets also look at the receiving he did that enabled a touchdown, or the catches for first downs, etc. We can't just pick certain plays and say he's terrible overall, or that he's great overall.

Yes, he should block better. And I think he'll be learning that more as this new team progresses. But to crucify him and completely forget the positives is not justified.

Here's my question. How many times did he miss a block that caused a sack? Now, you MUSt compare this with EVERY OFFENSIVE LINEMAN that did the same. Oh, don't forget that Randy must also be a receiver as well. The line blocks, plain and simple, nothing more nothing less. Big contract, eh, I"m not the coach or the GM. I could care less.

But there are a ton of other players that need more help that aren't contributing as compared to 81.

my argument isn't with his skills - please re-read my post. My beef is with him "wanting" Tony G. money. regardless of his catches, i don't think he should be paid as much as the best TE in the league just because he leads our team in catches. Tony G. can block, has more receptions, more yards, and is a whole lot more of a focal point of that offense (they have no WRs... Tony G IS their WR). We have good WRs, and a capable RB. the TE, although a critical cog to our offense as any other, is not the same anchor that Tony G is to KC. Randy is not as good of a blocker, doesn't make as many catches or yards, and isn't in the same role - so why should he receive same money.

All i'm saying is pay him commensurate with what he's worth.... and its not #1 money.

if he holds out to demand that #1 money, that brings into play my comments on trading him and getting something out of him.

If he grows up and realizes he'll can make top-12 TE money and he agrees to it, then we have no problems and i'd love him to stay.

But, it cant be your lil boy under center, not the precious Feeley. The flop master, the kid with the big eyes, AJ "Birdman" Feeley!
on the contrary, i think Feeley sucks... but blaming him all day long wont' fix anything. if he needs more blockers, we need to get him more blockers.

and your comment about TEs not needing to block is assinine. In many systems, blocking is more important than catching. we have plenty of talented WRs on this team... if i had to pick between blocking or catching TE, i'd pick blocking right now as we need it.

and to re-iterate for the millionth time, we are saying Randy isn't worth Tony G money, not "cut Randy" like you like to put it.

You aint listening. I said the punching bag. Over on MiamiDolphins.com, when they had the message board, he got pumelled to death. He was, "washed up", "past his prime", "needed to be traded", and so on. Listen to what I say. I didnt say you. I just used a blanket term, because most did.
