Merged 2X: Memories of Pat Surtain/Thank You Pat/Thanks Pat & Good Luck

my lasting memory is that he was without a doubt, the greatest and most consistent DB we ever had and that includes Madison, Troy Vincent, and Jake Scott. Its a shame in today's NFL, sure fire Pro-Bowl caliber players are dealt because of salary cap implications. Good Luck Pat and Good Luck with Randy Moss 2 times a year!!

ya i have to admit i was hoping to trade him all along to get our 2nd back but now that he's gone it's a little bit dissapointing. Easily one of the best CB's in the entire NFL.

And as far as my favorite Pat memory I'd have to think about that one cause he has made so many great plays throughout the years.

Thanks Muck watching that sent chills through my body. Remembering that play has made my day so much better.

Bless you Much Bless you

im gonna cry..

My favorite moment came against the Packers on MNF a few years ago. Favre was driving and threw the ball into the endzone. Surtain swatted it down while in mid air, then proceeded to balance the ball on his foot ( in mid air ) and bend down and pick it up off his foot for the TD saving int. It was the most incredible display of balance, concentration, luck and talent all in one. We lost the game but it was an amazing play.

I rember that game, that was the year Fiedler broke his thumb in the amazing Denver come back. Ray Lucas was playing that game, and I can probably say basically lost that game for us. Our Defense was amazing, and Favre was playing hurt.

Right after that INT Lucas threw it Cris Carter for his first game as a Dolphin, and he fumbled it away, but I believe our Defense made a crazy stop and held them to 3.

That game was nail bitting all the way we could have won that game so easily if we had just one less turnover.

does anyone have a video clip of that Packers play? I don't remember it (must not have seen that game) but it sounds incredible.

Thanks Muck. That interception sent chills through my body as well, especially with the crowd noise and Greg Gumbel: Gonna go deep to Jerry Rice...Intercepted !!! Who says the fans aren't loud ????

My most outstanding memory of him was where he couldn't tackle Warrick Dunn in the endzone for a safety a few years back and it basically had our season go down the drain from there.

But as far as players go I always thought he played well. I remember when they cut Terrell Buckley in the JJ era and JJ said that Surtain was ready to play. I thought there was no way, but pat stepped up. Hopefully we'll see the same from Will Poole. I live in dallas and Mario Edwards is certainly no Pat Surtain.

I like how he undercut two routes against the Chargers on Monday night football. He was on Boston two years ago and even though the game was a blowout Pat just owned that side of the field.

Thank you to Pat

This is a thread for Pat, for all of us to say thanks to one of the greatest Dolphins ever. Pro Bowler that did everything with class. Please join me in saying thanks, I hope he gets to see it somehow.

That was one of my favorite moments too.

THANKS PAT! I like the way you played, you were one of those quiet players, that let his play speak for itself. Hope you lead the league in intereptions out there, cuz they are getting one HELL of a shutdown corner!!!!
