merged 9x: Davey released/The real deal on Davey

From reading Saban's book, I remember him being really high on the type of leader Davey is. Other than that, I don't know if he thinks he can help us.

Ok you guys/girls... At the moment we have 2 career backups going at it to be our starter. To be honest with you, I think its senseless to bring in another one. Im not really sure why everybody is getting so excited about this guy. Ok he played for Saban at LSU, but so did a couple hundred other guys and nobody is talking about any of them. Personally I think we have a damn good quarterback in Sage. I think If given a fair shot, Sage could unseat Feeley or Frerotte...but then again I dont thats really hard to do the way they have been playin all pre season. What do you guys think??

Did ok? Check his stats at LSU

Couple of hundred other guys ? How many of them QB's? Remember Saban slamming his last LSU QB as 'not that good' during his introduction press conference.

Sage is not the answer unless we only plan to play scrimages or preseason games. In those, he seems to excel. SkapePhin hit the proverbial nail on the head concerning Sage.

IMO, Feeley can't get past the mental mistakes. You can correct technique but you can't make a QB smarter.

I guess the argument could be made that at least Sage has played in a regular season game and he wasn't too bad while Davey's claim to fame is winning the world bowl in NFLE.

Yup, while garnering the MVP award.

I think he would have just as much to add as Sage talent wise and he knows NE's playbook and tendancy's. That to me is very valuable.

I think the coaching staff will watch enough tape on New England to know what plays they run, and there tendancies, I don't think it is valuable at all. Why not bring in Matt Mauck he won a National Championship with Saban? What contribution can Davey really give the team? He'd be the 3rd string QB, and if Feeley fails, does anyone honestly believe the team will neglect the Qb position in the draft? Bringing him in does absolutely nothing, except cutting a QB, who is learning Linehan's offensive system, and bringing in one who has no knowledge of the system. If pressed into action Sage would probably do better, because he know's the system, and it'll take Davey time to learn it, and i'm not convinced he's more talented than Sage. Bringing in a guy just to bring in a guy, doesn't make sense to me, and it's Linehan's offensive system, not Saban's.

At LSU, where he played for current Miami Dolphins coach Nick Saban, Davey threw for a school-record 3,347 yards as a senior, leading LSU to its first outright SEC title since 1986

I thought you were talking about a more relevant title such as the National Championship, buy they wouldn't of been able to beat USC that year anyways.

I love how people comment on a guy they have never seen played before. There have been many QBs at LSU (not quite 200!), but not one of them has ever played as well as Davey. I had seen Davey often at LSU and he was awesome. He reminded me of Culpepper a lot. I definitely think he has more potential than any QB on the roster right now.

Man, I usually agree with almost everything you say, but I have to disagree with this one. Just your last six words. I think you CAN make a QB smarter. How do you get smarter? Through teachers. That is what our coaching staff will (soon) be known for. Feeley will learn here, IMO.

Is that the same Sage that wasn't able to unseat Ears ?? The same Sage that couldn't unseat AJ or Ears last year ?? There is a reason he is the 3rd string QB...he just isn't that good...he isn't even as good as Gus or AJ this year...deal with it...

Why not can't be any worse. Let's give him a shot, simple as that

If Saban likes him what does it matter what we say... Wanny did what the players and fans wanted and we had a crap team.

Let Saban coach.... you can be an armchair analyst!

Bro, you know I respect you but look at the facts; For 8 months of playing time, every coach (and most every fan, including you and me) have been pissed off when Feeley locks in on a receiver.

At some point, you have to reassess the possibilities that there is no teaching that can correct the problem.

Perhaps 'smart' was not the correct term but I hope you get the idea

The Dolphins DO NOT need another 3rd stringer. They already have Sage and Feeley.
