MERGED: Breaking News - Surtain Traded to Chiefs

I can't believe they actually traded away the best corner in the NFL, for draft picks. With Pat at least you knew they weren't passing to one side of the field, now you have to worry about both, and no Sammy Knight. It's a disaster if you ask me. To add to that Sabin will end up relying on a rookie RB, and maybe QB to win him games. :(

AGREED....AAAAAHH IT Shouldve BEEN YOU MADISON :fire:

Just lost my favorite player dont know if Im even excited for that extra second rounder for tomorrow. Good luck Pat! your a class act.

Yep, my feelings exactly.

Why swap 5th round picks, I guess it is not that significant but still a move down in one of the rounds.

That was probably a bargaining strategy by KC since they wanted just a 4th for Surtain. They gave in on the 2nd rounder, if we would swap 5ths. Still a good deal IMO.

Very disappointed in this trade. We are practically giving a top 5 NFL cornerback away in this trade. Something is bad wrong when Philip Buchanan draws more in a trade than Patrick Surtain.

Yeah, a second round pick is "giving him away."
Guess the Colts and Seahawks want to "give away" Alexander and Edge for second round picks, huh?

A second round pick is not proper value for a top NFL cornerback. This is as bad as dealing Adewale Ogunleye for virtually nothing last year. We've lost two players in the last two years at two of the most valuable positions, and we probably won't have much to show for it.

Why are you guys trying to compare the Phillip Buchanon deal with this one?

IN 2002 Philip Buchanon began a contract that was for 5 years worth 7 million dollars. He is still working under that contract.

(For the Floridians) That means he is still under his rookie contract. He has proven he is capable of playing in this league unlike one of Dave Wannestedt's draft picks. He is under contract to the team that received him for 2 more years at a bargain basement price.

You want to know why Buchanon is worth a 2nd and 3rd? That's why.

You want to know why Patrick Surtain is worth only a 2nd?

50.8 million dollars

I almost forgot.....

Champ Bailey? He was worth a 2nd round pick. How's that? Clinton Portis was worth a second round pick. Think not?

Why can Indianapolis not find a second round pick for Edgerrin James then?

Why can Seattle not find a second round pick for Shaun Alexander?

Just saw the news- man it's about time. Good luck in KC Pat!! We got our 2nd so I'm pumped!!

Ok, I'll throw in a few more;

Tanya Memme former Miss Ontario and DirecTV spokes gal
Pam Anderson Before she went Barbie, though
Thea Andrews the only reason to watch Cold Pizza
Terri Clark tall but worth the climb, especially if you like Counrty

FANTASTIC post. When assessing a player's "trade value," you have to incorporate the salary involved.
