I think more people on board wanted Earl Thomas at the time
We also forget we passed up players like Jason PierrePaul who
put up better numbers than Misi and Odrick COMBINED last season
We passed on the better Pouncey brother who has made the pro bowl 2 straight years
and also ALL PRO 2 straight years
We passed on Sean Weatherspoon who had a fantastic year last season
We passed on Ryan Mathews who had Reggie Bush stats with 1 less game played
We passed on stud guard Mike Iupati who has started 32 straight games anchoring the
offensive line in San Fran..It's not like we'd ever need a stud guard
We passed on Devin McCourty who has all ready made the pro bowl and
all-pro team
Lets not crown Ireland because he passed on Bryant
WHEN HE ALSO PASSED ON PLAYERS WHO HAVE HAD
A MUCH BIGGER IMPACT IN THE NFL THAN ODRICK AND MISSING
Dez didn't "beat up" anybody. He hit his mother with a baseball cap and pulled her hair, she did not require any medical assistance and (despite Dez's issues) it was the first time he was actually arrested. Doing that to your mother is obviously not the right thing to do, but there are a ton of great NFL players who have done a lot worse. The loveable TV personality Michael Irvin stabbed a guy in the neck with a pair of scissors one time, but nobody seems to remember that.

More importantly you don't know all of the facts involved in this situation. Maybe Dez's mother is a nutty crackhead (she did spend time in jail for selling crack) and she attacked him while he was arguing with his step brother (which is when the incident occured) and Dez was defending himself. I think if Dez Bryant (6'2 220 beast) "beat up" a frail woman twice his age, she would require some medical attention... Just my opinion.
Now let's compare Bryant to Misi both on and off the field. Off the field Koa Misi was arrested for breaking a guy's face by punching him through a wooden door, while Bryant was arrested during a family skirmish where literally nobody was hurt... Both guys (arguably) made a dick move and they got busted for it, neither situation is the end of the world.
On the field the two players are not even comparable, to me (and most objective eyes) Misi is "Mising". The guy has barely shown the ability to be a fringe NFL starter at either OLB or DE, he doesn't have dynamic pass rush skills, and if he doesn't step up big this year he might not have an NFL job ever again. Dez Bryant, on the other hand has not been GREAT yet nor has he been a model citizen, but the kid is twenty ****ing three years old, and he already has a 928 yard (14.7 YPC) and 9 touchdown season under his belt while he was nursing an injury... Bad hammy I believe but I could be wrong. Just so you know, 9 TDS was tied for 4th in the league amongst receivers last year, the only thing that Misi was 4th best at last year was getting swalled up by offensive tackles, the guy is garbage.
In 2010 we could have stood pat (or traded down a little less) and picked Dez Bryant and Aaron Hernandez, who are both way better than Odrick and Misi. Our offense could potentially be sick right now if we had Bryant and Hernandez. Is Bryant great right now? No, but he could potentially be if he just grows up a little bit and stays healthy. Again, the kid is only 23 and he's flashed huge talent.
According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Angela Bryant said during her call to authorities her son “tried to kill me,” and that she was going to “put an end to it today.”
Angela D. Bryant told police that her son hit her across the face with a ball cap, pulled her hair, tore her shirt and bra, and repeatedly struck her, according to records released by the DeSoto Police Department.
“Babe, I can’t keep letting him do this. . . . I can’t let him do me like this. I’m tired. I’m going to put an end to it today,” the 37–year-old woman could be heard saying during the call.
Welp I want good football players not boy scouts and Dez is obviously loaded with talent.
Obviously there is a great deal of boom or bust with Dez, but we ended up with Jared Odrick and Koa Misi for that one pick instead of him. The best case scenario for Odrick and Misi is that they become decent to pretty good players... That's their maximum upside. Personally I don't think that Koa Misi even has a place in the NFL.
The best case scenario for Dez is a true #1 receiver and a perennial pro bowler who can take over a game. Like I said, Dez is obviously much more of a high ceiling and low floor type of player, but as long as he can make it to the games on Sunday and stay healthy I think the kid can be an animal.
Like I said, we could have ended up with Dez Bryant and Aaron Hernandez (or Jimmy Graham now that I think of it) in that draft had we just stood pat... Hypothetically let's say we did trade down and still drafted Odrick (who I think is pretty good) in round one, we still passed on Gronkowski for Misi in round 2 which is obviously a terrible move. IMO that draft was mishandled and I think Ireland is a moron... But I guess time will tell for sure if I'm right. I guarantee if Ireland is fired following this season, everyone on this board who likes JI will change their mind about him pretty damn quick.
Tell me more about what Dez Bryant did and didn't do. Please. PLEASE.
Why form opinions before you know even 1/10th of what has come out? Why is it we, as a society, as so damn quick to rush to judgments? Im sorry if it sounds like I'm agitated because I truly am. I've read all over how OH this crack hoe blew the whole thing up! Wow its her fault. He's never been convicted he clearly is a good guy.
Sounds like he's been coddled and is finally getting what he deserves because he's pushed his own mother to the limit.
Tell me more about this awesome fortune telling machine you have!
It's a terrible move in hindsight, but if you remember, Gronkowski's back was ****ed up pretty bad and there were alot of questions about whether or not we should take him. I liked Jimmy Graham alot and was disappointed we didn't take him, but to tout Misi over Gronkowski is just another example of how hindsight is always 20/20. It's just bitching to bitch.
If anything, we should have traded back in the 2nd and gotten Jimmy Graham (and a few other picks in the process), but we stuck to a pretty Parcellian draft, since he was the dude controlling the draft board at that point.
Im not sure what kind of family you were raised in, but in real life families have arguments, and sometimes they can get very heated, even (gasp!) physical. I don't know what EXACTLY happened in that house, and neither do u, but clearly if Dez Bryant (who is a physical freak) "beat up" a middle aged woman then she would need some medical attention so stop using hyperbole. I'm not exonerating Dez of any blame here, but it isn't exactly a stretch to call his mom a crackhead because, well, she's a crackhead. She spent almost 2 years in jail for selling crack, I'm sure she dabbled from time to time, and crack tends to be a little addictive. Maybe she was trying to do crack or sell crack, Dez tried to stop her and she attacked him, so he defended himself and his mom in turn wigged out and call the cops. Sounds like plausible behavior for a junkie to me, at least u know Dez was skeed off his balls during this altercation.
Did you even read her quote from the 911 call? Are you seriously saying that SHE attacked HIM even though not a single person, even Dez Bryant, has claimed this? First, she DENIED MEDICAL TREATMENT. Does that mean she was fine? No, no it doesn't. She had MASSIVE BRUISES Honestly, READ THE STORY. You're either flat out ignoring key pieces or you're unable to comprehend basic articles. Which is it?
I've met some skewed perspectives in my life but you're taking the cake here man. I'm talking... I know lots and lots of defense attorneys who pull some mighty fine stories out of their butt but this takes the cake. You're telling me that SHE attacked HIM because HE wanted to stop HER from dealing crack? Oh my god what a hero.
Nowhere have I said that he beat her up. He assaulted her. He committed battery on her. Those are crimes. He hit her enough to: cause massive swelling to her head she had hair ripped out and she had marks on her face. He abused her. He hit her. Stop putting little disclaimers on it, he physically assaulted her.
And now you're already moving the goal posts attempting to downplay the scenario that IF he hit her. My god man.
And while we're being honest, I'd go ahead and say that I have a much more realistic view of what went on in that house because I at least have first person credibility to back up my "theories" while you're simply working with conjecture. And in MY house growing up, I was always taught you never strike a woman. You do whatever you have to do to defend yourself but you never, ever ever strike a woman. That's what I learned in my family, since you asked.
I'm sorry if I'm being rude but my god. I have an extreme sensitive spot for violence on women and I'm just blown away you're going above and beyond any logical explanation to try and cover for the guy. You're not exonerating him? Well, someone else is and using your keyboard to do it!
