MERGED: Dolphins hire Lazor as new OC

Lazor will have zero chance to succeed if the new GM doesn't bring in a #1 RB and fixes the OL. Lazor doesn't have a Shady McCoy to work with down here.

We have enough money under the cap that if we make a couple of key cuts (Sorry, Moore and Patterson, two players I do like), we can easily address the OL through free agency with additional moves in the draft.

Jeff left us a mess on the roster, but the cap isn't in terrible shape.

Lazor is doing his conference call with the media now. They asked him what kind of offense he's going to run. His response: "The number one factor in how the offense looks is the ability of the players on the roster."

Said he's still working out how he wants the offense to look schematically. Wants to thoroughly evaluate the roster first. Interesting.

What he means is, that the RBS suck, only 1 elite talent on the outside, a TE that is to small to be a constant seam threat. Oh and my grandma is a better olineman than these bums Miami had last season..

I'm excited. I watched most of the Eagles games last year.

You know there is no one as excited about this hire as Tannehill. :d-day:

Lazor says he is aware that Joe Philbin's job is in question after this season. Says he made a conscious decision to lump his future in with Joe's.

"I'm with him. I chose to compete. I chose to make an impact."

Well, I love his attitude already.

One thing he had to work with in Philly was a lot of speed. Even tho we have Wallace, overall we don't hve that kind of speed. On the other hand I'd like to think he can get way more out of Wallace and Miller as long as we get an o-line.

Ozzy rules!!

So much for him shunning the Dolphins and taking the Lions job. So much for the doom and gloom and having to settle for scraps.

Yeah it would be a really tough decision deciding between living in Detroit, and Miami. Lets see......cold, snow and ice, high crime rate, bombed out burned down buildings, or South Beach? Tough decision to make.

I'm told that new @MiamiDolphins OC Bill Lazor is planning to keep current offensive assistant coaches in place per Joe Philbin's request

WTF is he talking about, per Philbin's request?

Joe has in his contract that he has last say when it comes to his coaches. It's not a request, it's freaking understood!

Alex Marvez, how does he continue to have a job?

Good points but the whole Martin / Incognito mess happened under his nose as well.
i will give him credit for patching together a decent OL after those guys left the team with Brenner and Garner picking up the slack.

Not attacking you, but apparently the far majority missed it. I think it's pretty clear exactly what took place. J. Martin is a whackadoo who was living in his own reality.

we will see about that after teams get done signing/tagging their own free agents and the bidding wars start on the ones that do become free...

So....we are back to optimism again today! That is a good thing.

Hopefully, Lazor's experience with QB's will help RT move to the next level. Also, coming from a high energy up-tempo offense is something that we can really benefit from.

I like this move.....and as usual, Philbin kept this pretty secretive on who his real target was. Lesson learned again.....

When did Philbin mention before this hire who he was really or not interested in?

This may or may not be directed at you, but I am constantly surprised how ppl either do not understand or forget how the so called media works. They are nothing more than mouth pieces for information and disinformation. I have more respect for street walker than most of the so called media.

Reporters that actually report the facts or real news is a rare thing, and it has been that way for decades.

I want to know how he was going to the Lions and all of sudden is going to Miami. Crazy.
Go ask your buddy Salguero... Maybe he has all the answers to the burning questions.... lol

Bless him. I love OC's that mold their offensive system to the players they actually have on their roster, not the players they wish they had on their current roster. The concept that you can try and make players adhere to your system went the dodo back in the 90's.
