MERGED: Dolphins to hire Dan Marino as special advisor

Well no matter how you shake it, it's good news for everyone involved. I'm sure the hope is he will excel and be an ambassador to this team much in the way Elway is, but I guess time will tell. I honestly think this should've occurred a long, long time ago, but regardless of the circumstances, I'm glad to have Marino back on the payroll. It's a morale boost this team could certainly use.
 
Yay to Marino, if he can make some coin for giving some advice I'm all for it.

If we are throwing out names... Darrell Bevell, Guz Malzahn, or wait for it Bill Lazor.

At least, its nor Jon Gruden or Bill Cowher.

Maybe, one week Dan works w/ Tannehill & Lazor, the next offers some insight to Joe, yada yada yada.

Now, if they can bring JT is an adviser too...

Agreed. I think what it means is; 1) Ross has a clue of franchise history tradition unlike the Tuna & 2) Jimmy and his flunkie Dave will probably not be welcome. :d-day:
 
Nice. It's as it should be. Danny was always meant to have a role in this organization.
 
It's not just about Harbaugh. It's Ross learning from his mistakes, if Marino had been in the room, our odds of signing Manning would have been much much higher. Manning picked Elway over Ireland
 
I agree with Mithga....Manning took a meeting with Ireland out of respect for Dan. Had Dan been the man in the office...Manning would have come to Miami, not the other way around. We would have been a legitimate contender for his services. Atleast neck and neck and not an impossible long shot...but nothing we can do.


I wanna know though - whats the deal with Harbaugh? Why is everyone connecting him to us next year? Just because Ross went after him hard while we had Morono at head coach? Is there some kind of legitimate info. out there that Harbaugh is actually leaving SF? Would he be bribed away, or does he have to get kicked out? Whats all this talk about?

I love this move. I love Marino. He will learn the business and give this team credibility with outsiders.
 
Not sure if its a good hire or not but a big Marino fan and hope he adds value to organization. I think Huzienga and Ross have missed the boat many times on this.
Shula should have been given position higher rather than forced out.
 
All Dan needs to do to help this franchise is to be on the practice field staring at RT all day. and getting peeved when he cant even come close to Wallace when he is wide open.
