It is rebuilding per Joe Philbin. Make no mistake this Joe Philbin's team not Jeff Ireland.

This is a great move. We get rid of another headache and get a 2nd round pick in return. Nolan Carrol played great the other night. Im fine losing Vontae.

 Remember when I first started hammering on Garrard and I said Chad Johnson was next on my list and Vontae was coming up behind him..... Well Ive got some bad news for Carlos Dansby...... NEXT!!!!

Says the psychic that spells Karlos, "Carlos"

There was no excuse for this trade. If they did it because they wanted to start rebuilding, then why would you trade a 24 yr old player with huge upside??????

Good luck hitting in the 2nd round that can compare to the talent level of V. Davis. I'm not saying he is the best CB in the universe, but damn he is talented and worthy of a #1 slot on a lot of teams!

Miami has busted in the 2nd round for toooooo many years for me to think they will hit a home run to help ease the PAIN of losing talent in already weak secondary!

I think this is a horrible move for the Fins. Yes, we have plenty of picks next year and cap... Just worried what our GM will do with that money and picks!!!

Horrible day in my eyes for the Fins and we just lost the best CB since Madison or Surtain for a flyer in the 2nd round with a GM that could do better hitting prospects by throwing darts!

He looked like the best CB on the team when he consistantly blew coverage during the first half of the year.
He looked like the best CB on the team when he showed up to camp out of shape and lost his starting job.

Sorry, he may be the "best CB on the team" for the second half of the year, but i'd rather have a player that wants to play ALL year

I'm sorry but are you aware of the other trash in our secondary?

Our secondary's best player is Sean Smith.
We have a below average #1, and an average #2, but that isn't even the worst part. We have NO depth.
We probably have the worst Safety tandem in the league.

There is NOTHING positive about this trade, especially since we will be drafting a Philip Merling, Pat White, Chad Henne, or Koa Misi with the pick anyways.

this team is a ****in joke... we just traded away 2 of the top 5 players on our team in one year. for what? two thirds and a 2nd. given to a gm who has proven he's terrible at drafting

I would trade that second round pick right back to them for Colby Fleener.

Clyde Gates for CB!!! Anyone see him break up that near pick 6 last game?

No receivers and now a below average secondary. Unless we're going after a WR within the next few days, my season record prediction just dropped to 4-12.

I don't agree with this trade either, especially just two weeks from opening day. Now we have really no adequate depth behind Smith and Marshall.

I will say this though, Vontae will be in line for a big contract extension at the end of the 2013 season. If he is the 3rd cornerback on the team, is he better to trade and get value for or give him a big money deal? Still don't agree with the trade, but two years from now he might not have been re-signed anyways.

Ireland better start having better drafts if he's going to trade talent for picks. First Marshall, now Vontae. I get the character questions. I didn't contest the Marshall trade. I raised an eyebrow, maybe, but I got it. But now look at how our WR's are. And now Vontae is gone and I just remember the rotating door that we had at CB before him n Smith were drafted. I've been one of the most patient with Ireland, rarely questioning his moves. But my patience is wearing thin and I'm tired of waiting. And trading for picks is getting old.
