MERGED: Dustin Keller Injury Thread

Losing Keller is just another nail in Ireland's coffin. He can ill afford for us to lose players like that. Ireland knows he's on real thin ice this year.

its allowed in football. Wanna blame someone? blame the NFL for not making it illegal to dive into a players knee.

You are absolutely right bro. But swearinger could've tackled him any way he wanted. The kid was a scumbag at South Carolina, still a scumbag. There's a decorum in preseason and I promise u everyone on that field, including the texans, was ashamed of DJ when he made the hit

I finally saw the replay of the injury its up on youtube and wow it looks bad. Im praying for him if he plays this season it will be a miracle. Maybe we get lucky and he comes back like week 10 or something hey u never no. Think happy thoughts.

That hit was a cheap shot. No question. Horrid, in fact.

But the real question is why we don't have talent enough on the roster to step up at TE? Especially when two quality draft picks have been used on the position in the last two years?

And more -- why the WR corps as a whole is so slow that taking out a good TE receiver hurts the team so much?

We are hurting at skill positions -- WR and TE especially. And thin with skill at RB. And absolutely paper-thin and poor at OL.

All this, friends. ALL this is on Ireland.

Lose one TE and it makes playoffs seem like a pipe-dream? That should tell anyone how well our front office has done at talent-acquisition.

Dang, it hurts to be a Fin Fan sometimes!!

a hyper extention is where the knee is bent backit is possible he could be ready for season it was a cheap shot if it is a break out 6 to8 weeks lets hope for the best cause as bad as they look they need all the help they can get they are still a 500 this season and now that keller is out maybe then we might be a 7-9 win team we look preaty bad on off and second def is so bad

why does weverything go so good for pat and tom they lose 3 reciever and they look like they have not lost a nothing still score at will we need to change our direction like get rid of jeff i told everyone that he would still screw it up

This was one the cheapest shots I have seen in a long time. What bothers me the most is that nobody on the Dolphins went after Swearinger over this. Last year in the playoffs when someone took a cheap shot at LeBron there was a backup forward on the Heat who came off the bench and closelined one of the Pacers starters to make it clear that the Heat would not tolerate this s***. In baseball it is almost expected that a pitcher will throw at a hitter who tried to spike one of his teammates. Brian Cox once ran across the entire field to enter a fight in support of a Dolphin's teammate.

Where was any of that with the Dolphins tonight? Has Philbin's cerebral approach to the game so tempered the concept of us against the world that we are totally devoid of the emotion required to play the game with reckless abandon.

Come on people lets get real if Miami had drafted Tyler Eifert and he was in on that same play we would likely be here talking about losing Eifert for the year and the possible impact on his career. To say this situation somehow proves Miami should have drafted a tight end instead of signing Keller makes no sense.

Contact more often than doesn't equate into ACL the majority of ACL tears come from non contact . . . with that being said, that was a nasty hit. I don't think it's broken though.
