MERGED:ESPN reporting the Dolphins are trying to clear cap space for Simon

Lets hope Saban and Mueller can pull this off.

Uhhh... still no verification of this story.

It aint on SportsCenter. Where did you hear this? Did ANYONE else hear this?

Let's not get ahead of ourselves...

You give him a mid-range bonus. Heavy incentive package. That and knowing he will be rotated will keep him fresh and not needing to take plays off.

Hmm..interesting...IMHO- WHY? Besides possibility of cap hell, WHY? Apologies for not knowing your cap situation, but this guy will demand some $$$, even if he does re-structure. Also, from what Ive heard / read about Simon, he was a "product of the system" I HATE THAT WORD, but that is what ive heard..

Let me ask you this...You bring in Simon, but isnt the defensive line ALREADY a strength? Does bringing Simon in help the O-line?

This would be weird, and once again thats IMHO.

As I always say, you dont strengthen the position your strong at...you address the positions that are WEAK!

You make some good points, but Carter, holliday, Chester are old, Simon is younger, but I also agree, I would rather see some secondary or O-line help with the money.

I wouldnt be surprise if we cut Larry Chester & Derrius Thompson

The fact is that we are a D that sometimes really struggles w/ the run and gives up short 3rd and 4th down plays.

If he helps out in that one facet, it is worth it keeping the rest of the D off the field. The better your front 3 or 4 the better your LBs' and your Cbs'.

The reason that they do not go after a stud OL w/ the likes of the rep of Simon is b/c there are none available!

Cutting Larry Chester would be a sad admission that he is unable to recover. I had high hopes for him (still do).

I could care less about Derrius Thompson. That's a mirage that will never become an oasis.

I hope we sign him so all those posters who told me it wouldn't work can eat crow. Obviously this is NOT Madden 2006, but we could pick him up without breaking the bank or have a lot of dead money next year. For it to work I think Howard,Thompson and maybe one of our DTs. Personally I wish we cut Feeley and use that cap space for depth. Although that would create dead cap $$$.
