By the way ... IMO, taking Edwards with our quarterback situation would have been like pimping out a Ford Escort. :D

great news from dolphinsville as ronnie brown and his agent have made it known they want to get PAID. everyone knows as a #2 pick you are going to get a phat deal, but i think brown's agent is asking for an absurd amount. reguardless of what we end up paying him i will tell you this: if our offensive line blocks, then any of the backs we have can be successfull. minor, morris, or harris. if they block like they did last year, brown or anyone else in the backfield is going to struggle to get 3 yards per carry.
this is why i'm against taking a running back with the #2 pick. DBs and WRs are what i think you should take when you are drafting top 5. they dont rely so heavily on other things as other positions do.

EDIT: please note that the title of this thread is "exactly the reason NOT to take a RB at #2"

it is not "exactly the reason not to draft a player at #2"

it seems that several people have been confused with this. i will try to be more clear in future thread titles.

Maaan!...some people are cheap!

Quit Hating on Ronnie and let the man get paid!

The Ronnie contract

Ok i love that we picked him at #2 BUT this contract bs is really gonna piss me off if this guy starts b@#$chin that his contract isnt big enough some one needs to tell him dont let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya.

news flash: RONNIE YOU NEVER PLAYED ONE DOWN IN THE NFL!

hey play a couple years lets find out what your really worth

welcome to the nfl, it's a business first.. and he'll get paid, just like every other top draft pick.

cry more everyone. its the #2 pick. Saban wants to not spend alot of money the #2 pick gets alot of money the phins dont have a lot of cap room. In the END it will all work

I assume you are talking about the article about how Ronnie is demanding boat loads of cash? Did you read the part in that article where it says his agent hasn't even started negotiations?

A writer's assumptions don't mean squat in the grand scheme of things.

UNbelievable. This is not the type of guy that will hold out. It is not like him. If it was edwards, i could see your point.

The draft was just last weekend. You want him to sign before we pick in the second round? Relax. I know there isn't much else to talk about but give it a rest.

I love how one article about Ronnie's contract starts a boatload of threads saying things like "we shouldn't of drafterd him", "he doesn't deserve that kind of money" etc. NEGOTIATIONS HAVE NOT YET BEGUN people.

And if you have been paying attention to the NFL the last 10 or so years, you'd know that a No. 2 pick will get a LOT of money and a HUGE signing bonus.

Some of you scare me.:shakeno:

He's NOT holding out, he hasn't asked for ANYTHING. Stop :byroan: about everything you can think of.

Brown has bigger arms than me...that's not fair, we shouldn't have drafted him!!
:fire:

The coloring and design of his college helmet closely resembles that of the 'Phins... therefore we should have drafted him. :chuckle:

My problem with the article is the article itself. WTF did they need to go and write that for  ? Yeah, no duh he is going to want #2 slot $$, is there a reason that writer had to write that piece so that people can prematurely go off on a tangent like the starter of this thread and others??? Stop pidgeon holing Ronnie already!!

And I must say...I use to like Sun-Sent....but to their writer's (who we all know read this board ;) ) I would like to say: GIVE IT A REST! Between this article, the Saban "war" article, and countless others over the last year their choice of stories and attitudes portrayed with are getting classless and tiring.
