Merged: Feeley the man

After Ferottes inability to put points on the board or even get into the RedZone Feeley better get another chance.

Feeley only having 7 pass attempts as a Starter is just not enough to do anything..

Or what? Your gonna cry?

I am hoping Feeley comes through but he does not seem to progress enough.Dont be fooled by last night stats. He did not do anything to deserve to be No 1 yet.He completed a lot of high pct dinky passes but was way off on other passes.

The thought with Frerotte was that he was a veteran who knew the system and could come in and run an efficient offense. As I'm watching him this morning, he looks worse than the stats I saw prior to the game.

Some of these dropped balls people were using in his defense, were bad throws.

Feeley has a better arm, and if the theory is that Gus knows the system and therefore has the advantage, then Feeley is going to be getting more acclimated with it and at least gives us hope that he will be getting better.

Im watching the game now and all i gotta say is WTF?
Ferotte is HORRIBLE -awful reads, and he CANT TROW THE BALL DOWNFIELD!

The truly sad thing is that the rest of the offense really didn't give us enough time to evaluate the QB's at all. Every time we started moving the ball, someone would cough it up. I think we fumbled every single time we got past the 50, except for the FG. I don't think either QB was the second coming of Marino but this loss had nothing to do with the QBs. In fact, I am rather encouraged that our defense held them to 10 points considering the offense ended up -4 pts. for the night. Also, those ten points tha the defense gave up came off turnovers DEEP in Miami territory.

apples to oranges. Play calling was totally different for Feeley than it was for Gus.

And that was any diff than Gus vs Chicago? Dude stop saying thrid team, Pitt played their SECOND team in teh 3rd quarter, but then again it doesnt give your argument that effect you are looking for does it? you want apples to apples? Well it is, you just dont like it. If you look at it as just last nite, then I agree with you. But since the only time Gus really outplayed AJ was in teh chicago game ( and wasnt a clear head and shoulders better like AJ last nite) when the same arguments you are using against AJ for last nite applied to Gus vs Chicago, it is apples to apples.

The only reason Gus was ahead was he had a better presence in teh pocket, he had poise, composure. AJ had that last nite. when it wasnt there deep and it wasnt, he checked down and hit the open receiver. He was alos under alot of pressure many times so what was he supposed to do? Eat the sack? Force it deep and have it int? Yeah just what many wanted so they could say see AJ sucks.

Make it whatever you want it to be so you can cling to your argument, fine. Fact is AJ was sharp last nite, would have led to points without the 2 fumbles and a couple drops.

And no I am not one that believes AJ should be named the outright starter at this point. He hasnt earned it yet. but he does become in the thoughts again IMO.

Yeah I dont care how much you hate the guy that game was mint! That is one game you can't trash his performance and anyone who does can't be taken seriously

35 attempts and less than 200yds. You're right, that game was mint. Feeley had a good game, but people here talk about like it was this incredible performance. He found a mismatch with DT at the end and tossed the ball up. Yes it was a good play, but not legendary as some here would have us believe.

The Pats game was no different than the type of game we came to expect with Fiedler. The QB just does enough that if the D plays a solid game the team has a chance to win. I want a QB who will win games instead of trying not to lose them.

Funny, when Ferotte checks down and completes short passes...he knows the offense, knows where the open read is, makes good decisions...When Feeley does it, He only made 4 yard gains. He didn't complete any long passes he couldn't get the ball to the recievers. NEWS FLASH...what everyone has seen from Ferotte....THAT is ferotte. This is what he has been his whole career. I had a thread weeks ago warning that this offense with Ferotte at the helm would do nothing. Folks.... He just isn't that damn good. Never has been and never will be.

Short passes? He moved the ball and made completetions. Completions means the chains were moving. Gus had incompletions which mean we punted. So, some here would rather punt then complete 5 yard dumps? Check the stats, Feeley had just as many if not more passes over 10 yards then Gus san his Welker throw.

Take away Gus's Welker throw and he really tanked. Gus knows this offense and tanked. Gus has composure and leadership and poise and yet tanked. Gus is more consistent and yet wasn't. Almost threw 3 consecutive INTs.

AJ? Oh completed 80% of his passes, moved us on almost every drive before someone else screwed up. Was he even sacked? Didn't make many if any bad throws.

All this with Gus named the starter and getting ALL the snaps with the first team. Says to me AJ stepped up and deserves the flip flop. We will flip flop until get we the right QB for the job.

Your right, AJ should have just flung teh ball deep regardless of whether he had an option deep. Silly AJ trying to take the open receiver while being under pressure and facing a sack. What was he thinking.

If receivers actually CAUGHT THE BALL You all would be talkingabout how good he played. How many passes did McMike drop? Or Booker... Before you roast Frerotte look at why there were no completions!

lol, all of you people who hop back and forth need to get a clue.

seriously, be consistant with something.

It was one preseason game which was horrible on all parts of the offense, give Gus a chance before you castrate him ffs...

Hey McMike is the one that talked about his support fot Ferotte...seems kind of ironic he is the one that seemed to have the trouble holding onto the ball... Again this is Dejauvu (sp)

I will say that Feeley seemed to read the defense and he moved in the pocket A LOT better than he usually does. He did not seem clueless, despite quite a few blitzes, stunts, etc.
