Merged: Getting Daunte Culpepper/Trading for Daunte

Someone might have already thought of this, but this idea just hit me. It might seem a little out there but if you think Daunte is coming off major knee surgery and most likely will not be ready to play when the season begins. They also need a running back and Ricky could be someone they might be interested in. I think this trade is very possible even though it probably won't ever happen. Give me your thoughts.

if we had taht mock in the first 3 raounds evne tho it will nevr happen as they are all potential 1st rounders, i will go ***K on myself! i hate the shockley pick tho, very bad qb.

wtf.

enough with this stupid threads.

LEAVE! you already stated your opinion. now let others state theirs. no ones forcing you to look at these threads. plus i don't know why you're still here. you call yourself a fan, you wanted the Dolphins to lose just so they could be lower in the draft.

:sidelol:  :goof: :shakeno:  :tantrum: Ricky and our first for a guy who has a 90 mill. contract and badly damaged knee. Speilman is that you posting on the board???

Ricky and our 1st pick for Daunte

Im willing to do that, but I dont know how anyone else would feel about that

Are you kidding me? Ricky and our 1st for a QB that's disabled for life. Wow...that's funny...this was a joke eh?

his knee is a major concern. he didn't have a small tear or something of that matter, he completely shredded his knee to the point where there are doubts on whether or not he will be ready by the start of the season. plus, he's overrated- he has been outplayed by his backup every season he has missed time. i would pass on him.

"Why in the world would th Vikings even consider that?
People on this board over-rate Ricky so bad it makes me sick.

A Pro-Bowl, MVP caliber QB for a good RB. LOL
I understand he has knees issues, but with modern medicine he will be just as gooD as ever"

this is one of the most ******ed quotes I have read. Daunte WAS a pro bowl caliber QB when he had Randy and Linehan calling the offense. All he did was throw the ball up and let Randy run under it. MVP:shakeno: did you see his numbers last year before he was hurt 6 td 12 picks 72.6 qb rating, throw in a badly damaged knee and a $100 mill contract. Plus the team won 6 straight when he went out, oh and Ricky is a bad apple Daunte wasn't exactly going to church when he was on that Party Boat.

Ricky overrated??? are you sure you watch football?:sidelol: The guy came back ran for 734 yards in 12 games getting the ball around 10-12 times per game and had 6 td's. Ronnie had 4 in the whole season. How soon we forget 1853 yards and 16 td's.

Granted the guy has mental problems, but please don't call him overrated when he gets on the field, the guy can flat out play. Even if it is only for 2 more years.

The upside of trading for him befor he is healed is that he could probably be had for a lot cheaper than if we waited untill he was fully healed. It would have a lot more risk but it might be worth the reward.

You don't understand...we can't trade for him until he is cleared by the Vikes doctors to play...that is built into the contracts of every player...might even be part of the CBA....if somehow it happens, it would mean that the Vikes are still responsible until he is healthy...they're not going to do that...

Culpepper aquisition is just un realistic, too many question marks for the saban regime. Can he recover, can he exist without Randy Moss, and can he play for peanuts drive around in a ford escort with five offensive lineman and juggle? Ain't gonna happen. I could see favre in a dolphin uniform before DC, and that probbly won't happen either....but never say never

Unrealistic? More like ridiculous, risky, unnecessary and foolish.

ok listen... this topic has come up plenty of times. I'm going to once again state why it makes sense to make a deal for Daunte....

Yes the guy is coming off a serious knee injury and may have to sit out the 1st few weeks of next years regular season. Okay, that definitely isnt the way teams want to start off... I know that. But listen, the guy is going to recover fully from this injury and be even stronger and quicker than before. The medical technology and rehab programs that exist today are even better than when Willis McGahee went down. Look at him for example these days...

Culpepper is still young and an experienced QB in the NFL. He has a LB frame and can throw the deep ball probably better than any QB in the league. Some of you are stuck up on this fumble stat and I'll agree thats something to be concerned about. But people are quick to forget that Culpepper put up one the best QB passer ratings in the NFL only just two years ago and threw for over 40 TD's. He made the Pro-Bowl and would have been the league's MVP if it wasnt for a guy named Peyton.

If we can work something out with the Vikings to get Culpepper for lets say a 2nd or a player and a 3rd, I say we pull the trigger. I'm a little hesistant on trading Ricky b/c of the tremendous duo we have currently plus his tremenous talent. But in the end, if we can swing a deal for Daunte, it's definitely worth it. Daunte is what every dolphin fan has been craving since Marino retired and that is a "franchise QB"

I heard a report on "Around the Horn" that a trade was being talked about, Daunte for Jamal Lewis.

Hopefully it will happen, b/c I personally dont want Daunte.

I'm not going to argue the point of whether he is an upgrade for us, he is..

My point again is that a trade involving Culpepper to ANYONE is not going to take place unless the doctors on both teams ok him physically. Saban probably won't be too inclined to make a deal for him unless he can play and prove he will be able to fully recover from his serious injury. No other team would do so either. So the best we could hope for is a trade in Sept (and this assumes he's about 2 months ahead of schedule, the heal time for this injury is still a calendar year even with better medical technology). Why would we trade for Culpepper in Sept ?? Is Saban going to go into TC without having a plan to upgrade the QB position ?? Doubtful, very doubtful. What would happen if his plan was to trade for Daunte in Sept, and he never really got back until November ???

No, a trade for Culpepper won't happen this offseason...Saban is way to calculating a coach to allow that possibility of not upgrading the position for next year.
