Here is a good thing.

Without being biased or without the blinders some people have on.

Both QB'S looked solid tonight.

I am a huge Feeley supporter.

Now to the question. Now honestly think about this. I know it's dificult to play the what if game. BUt how much better was Gus tonight if Thompson makes that perfectly thrown pass? All of Feeleys throws were right on the money. The one throw to Chambers in double coverage was his only bad attempt.

Feeley definitely looks 10 times more accurate then Frerotte.

Now on to Frerotte. He definitely looks more comfortable in the offense. Conversely. How much better will some of you be saying that Gus was Had Chambers not been able to adjust and catch the horribly underthrown deep ball that had been thrown on target could have went the distance? How much better is Gus if Gilmore doesn't doesn't make the amazing catch on another poorly thrown ball from Frerotte.

Now before some of you bash what I am saying here is my point. The only reason GUS LOOked better is because the WR'S made adjustments or amazing catches. Feeley WR'S didn't have to make great catches or adjust because he was right on the money. He had bad luck on that Thompson catch.

With that said, I would say they both looked solid. You can't look at just the stats u gotta look at the game.

It is very clear Feeley is way more accurate and has the better arm. However, right now Gus is more comfortable and is better at checking off.

They both looked solid tonight period. Not outstanding but solid.

Quarterback A.J. Feeley made some nice throws, completing 4 of 7 passes for 35 yards, even with Thompson's drop. Gus Frerotte looked fine, too, completing 11 of 17 for 143 yards and a touchdown.

But the equally telling part of the quarterback play was watching if they'd get off the ground. With less than a minute in the first quarter, Feeley went back to throw and never got the chance. Chicago linebacker Brian Urlacher was in his face, as well as his spleen.

"They didn't block me," Urlacher said. "None of their offensive linemen stepped up into me, so I didn't have to slow down."

You cannot blame Feeley! At least not yet!

But boy is he looking pretty good tonight. I noticed how A.J. was watching 1 reciever and Gus is looking off his recievers and is looking good.

it was interesting how you had a camera inside AJ's helmet to look at his eyes....(not funny i know but still) but you guys dont get it....Gus is OLD...this year we are going to have to go after a QB in the first round and God knows we need DB help like nobody's business...

How nice to call names . I am not blind that is just the way I saw it and gave my opinion. And no unlike you I am no homer. I want the best guy to start. Do i have a preference as to who i would like to see start of course. But that does not mean I will root for whoever does start.
Like I said I will give trust Saban to start a guy. as long as he knows when its time to yank the chain and give the next guy the shot.

Did you not watch the replay.....if he leads him on the pass it is a INT. He had to throw behind heim to complete that pass. I know it breaks your heart but it was a killer pass. And the long pass to Chambers. He underthrew it on purpose I guess you dont watch much footbal outside of Miami....that id how Delhomme made him money with Mushin and Culpepper with Moss. You underthrow slightly so your reciever has the edge to come back on the ball. Thats what half of moss's td catches look like.

Bears game

Cheer up Fins Fans! Yes we got destroyed last night but let's review why / how it happened.
1. The Bears "wanted" this game more tham the Fins. On defense they were blitzing from everywhere. On offense they were passing deep all over the place. In short, they gameplanned to win. (unusual for the first exhibition game, but not surprising since they were bad last year and want to make a good first impression with a "2nd" year head coach)
2. We looked "tired" and we were.. While it's hot everywhere this time of year, there's no "hot" like South Florida. As a team we're not that slow.
3. The lack of "contact" in practices we'll "show-up" negatively in your first pre-season game and it did.
4. New coaches, new system = confusion. It doesn't "click" on the first pre-season game and practicing against each other sort of "masks" the problem. It will get better.
Positives
1. Passing philosophy! We actually lined up in the shotgun! Did that happen last year? The down side: this passing approach will quickly expose a bad quarterbck.
2. Frerotte. It's too bad, he's sort of old, but boy does he know this system! He got rid of the ball quick. The long pass to Chambers was the play of the night for us and galvanized the reason he will be #1 if healthy. He underthrew Chambers but the way he avoided the rush was something Feely could never do. He's second and third reads on pass plays were a joy to watch. (haven't seen that in a while!) Gus is not that elusive and with our "improved offensive line" it's kind of scary.
3. Receivers looked good, but I didn't see any broken tackles a la McMichael.
4. Nice to see us run an INT back for a TD!
Scary thoughts
1. The secondary looked lost the whole game.
2. Pass rush was ????
3. Run blocking and runners looked half -hearted. (yes even Ricky!) Sammy Morris had the 2 running plays (count 'em 2) where there was room to run and he seemed nervous.
4. Feely
5. Rosenfels and Berlin had their moments but in the end they did not come thru when it counted most. Sage overthrowing a "wide open: Josh Davis on 3rd down killing a scoring drive. He had Josh open forever and actually hesitated before overthrowing him. Brock's terrible interception in the endzone to win the game for the bears. Brock's "reads" were damn good throughout the game and if I hadn't seen him in college, I would be optimistic.
Parting thoughts...
It's only the first preseason but this game should serve as a benchmark for improvement and that's the good news.

Gus looked a tad better than Feeley tonight, but I am so sick and tired of both qb's so evenly matched. I just want one guy to step up and put some distance between him and the other guy. I want a clear winner. I don't care who it is.

AJ 4/7 47 yards. 0 Points!!!!!!!!

I personally feel that there are too many fans that want Feeley to start just because we gave up a 2nd for him. I know a 2nd is a big pick to give up. However, if he's got it then he's got it plain and simple. We can't make him "get it". This won't be the first big pickup by Wannstedt that didn't turn out ( I hope it does though).

If Frerotte ends up being the starter and does well then so what?

Feeley looked good in camp.....but once again when live play occirs and a real ruch happens he crumbles and can only show you glimpses of his camp self.

mike are you on crack gus was very impressive aj was not
