Sorry guys, But that is a BS post. I just watched the show, and Cole is saying its a rumor from a good source. But he can't say for sure whether WIlliams is going to return. He said he didn't wanna get quoted by other News Sources, and end up looking like a fool. So it's still up in the air.

Liar.

Jason Cole did not say it was a "rumor" ...He said "The People" he talks too confirmed to him that it is a DONE DEAL that he is coming back in July....

Maybe you are a trouble maker like is being said. Go ahead...go for a banning record...I think the record is 4 posts.

For those that want to see the show....It's on Sun Sports and I believe they repeat the show at 11 eastern and then through the night.

I saw it to on the 10pm replay, Section is right, he did say according to "his people" he felt it was a done deal.. He mentioned the suspension and said look for him in July..

On another note, how are any of you completely sure that Ronnie Brown can even make it in the league? He like any other rookie has a better chance of being a bust than he does an all star like Ricky was. When healthy I would take Ricky over ANY, thats right ANY RB in the NFL and that includes Willis.

um ditto, but let's use jp losman in your situation.

hahaha..and to think, I just bought a 16x20 autographed picture today of RW from the Sunday Night game verse Washington when they wore the orange jerseys. I was figuring it was a cool pick, just him cutting through a hole and he looked bad arse with the visor and all. Got it for $40!!

If Ricky comes back, he's here to stay?

If Ricky comes back, he WILL play for Miami at least one year. He has no trade value as is at the moment, but if he displays rededication and the same pro bowl skills, there will be alot of trade partners avalable the next season.

Now with that said, here are some reasons I believe that if he returns at all, he will stay with Miami for the rest of his career.

- Ricky has more value as a player for us, than anything we can get in return for him. Probably the most we could get for him is possibly a 2nd round pick, whereas, on the team, coupled with Ronnie Brown, he would be part of the most lethal backfield in the league. That is more valuable than a 2nd round pick imo.

-Ricky never liked being the focal point of the offense. This was one of many reasons he was pushed from the game. Wanny's wad ball wore him out. He came to Miami with the intentions that he was going to be just another player on a good team, I dont think he ever envisioned him being THE MAN on the team. All of that attention was what got him down in NO. Attention like that with a social disorder is just too much to handle. With the prospects of sharing a backfield with another great back, and a system that will use him as a complementary player rather than the focal point, he will feel more comfortable. He cant get that on any other team.

-He will be playing for a coach who wants him, who doesnt remember his transgressions, who accepts him and will care for his best interests. While Wanny wanted Ricky as well, he abused him, he used him up as a way to save his own hide (That Buffalo game with 30 plus carries comes to mind). He might be able to strike a similar relationship with Saban like he did with Ditka and his college coach.

-He wont have as much fanfare. Another thing that wore on Ricky was all the fan attention he received in So Fla. He became the savior of the city shortly after he arrived, and I dont believe he was prepared for that. With his actions, you could say he put a big damper on that here. He will never get that amount of fan attention again, although he might get alot of negative fanfare, that is until he starts putting up numbers.

-Most of the teamates he betrayed wont be around much longer, or will forgive. Saban is remaking the team in his image. Half of the old Defense is already out.. The OL is somewhat revamped since he last played, Fiedler is gone and the other members on O appear to be the forgiving types. If Ricky can make TRUE apologies to his teamates for leaving them hanging, he shouldnt have problems as far as the team is concerned.

-The money. We all know he needs to pay back Miami for the money they gave him. This would be his opportunity. This would also be his opportunity to make the slate clean. This would be his pennance. It always seemed, or at least he stated, money wasnt his driving force, if he would just accept a modest contract and work to payoff the rest, Miami would be the perfect fit for him.

The situation in Miami would actually be quite positive for Ricky and his needs. It would be equally beneficial for the team as well. A backfield of Ricky and Ronnie would quite frankly make ANY QB look good. It would cause matchup problems for every D coordinator in the league. Seeing as how Ronnie is such an unselfiish and teamfirst player, he would be the perfect compliment to Ricky.

If you can look past your own personal feelings, you might see how this scenario could be perfect for all parties, and I, for one am willing to forgive. I was upset at his retirement as everyone else, but mostly for the timing, not that he decided to retire. I understood why he did it having some knowledge of social and anxiety disorders. His later comments turned me off a bit, I saw a different side of him which was pretty lame one indeed.. The guy is immature, that is for sure, but sometimes, these kinds of people, specifically decent people deep down, which I believe Ricky is, need certain father/teacher figures to help them out of their funk.. I truly believe, after everything I have read, that Saban would be just the man to serve in that capacity for him.

Will Ricky run again? July shall make the answer clear once and for all.

I wish I could forget Ricky loves Pot, and that he was still 1700 yard avg Ricky.. With our new improved line I would kill to see a Ricky, Ronnie combo. It won't forgive what he did but it could be fun to watch and will increase his trade value from Gatoride and a cooler to a mid-round pick.

Cant trust him.
Cant afford him.
Wanny didnt work Ricky to death, Ricky worked Ricky to death.
Cant reasonably expect that he wont get another suspension.

If Ricky decides to come back this year there isnt much the Phins can do about it short of cutting him.
However, if he does return and prove that he can still run, anything we can get for him at the end of the season would be better than keeping him. Ricky is a timebomb. Let him explode (again) on some other team.

Great post, Skape. Pretty much the same way I feel. Myself, also having a chemical imbalance, although a different type than Ricky has, can imagine somewhat the things that go on in his head. If he comes back, he will have the spotlight on him again with all of the negativity. That is alot to handle when you have S.A.D., and NO medication is a miracle pill. If he subjects himself to that, then I believe that he truly wants to play again, and I would be ecstatic to see him run again.

Good post, i like all your points, Ricky will be bettter with Ronnie to share the load. With the 2 great back tandem, we'll start to look alot like Csonka / Morris of 70's. All we need now is a cartaker QB, ala Griese!

Regardless if Ricky comes back it's gonna be tough to say how effective he'll be. If he's at around 220-230 range I think he'll be very good, probably finishing better than he starts, but alot of time when players come back they get hurt very early so it'll be interesting to see if he does come back. I'm gonna just speculate here, and let's say he does come back, could he beat out Ronnie Brown for the starting job? That's a big "if" but it could turn out to be a "poor mans" situation compared to the Chargers Qb situation because of Rickys past.

If Ricky comes back it will be as a back up and he would have to earn his way on the field. I would see him signing for vet min with his judgement being wiped away.

Has a good year. Comes and shows "he is back". But then we should trade him for a more "solid player" or "pick"? Pssst, you're not guaranteed a more solid player than him if he performs as we are implying..especially if it is only a pick.

And this was never about Miami as a city, it was about WANNSTEDT. I don't think he needs to go anywhere to be happy playing football.

Oh, and as I have stated before here...with my educational background I feel fairly confident when I make guesstimates about a MAJORITY (ie. not "all") of a populations action....because that's my job.

The team was not guaranteed a more solid player when they traded Surtain, but they got a player of need.

Roper is a running back, a pounding running back who wanted the ball at least 25 times a game, and he got his wish!! So it's not at all about WANNY, it's about being someone who smoked weed, got caught, refused to stop, got caught two more times, and said F-it, I quit.

You apparently have the bosses fooled....... ;)

If you read all my posts like you should instead of clicking on and reading only the last page you will see that I have included Losmans name in the people who could either be stars or complete busts. Show us that you are not an ignorant fool and read before you post.
