MERGED: Jim Harbaugh/Dolphins 2015 Speculation

Where the hell are the rumors starting in Miami about this anyway? Ross sure as hell isn't saying anything. Hickey? Lazor? Like they'd say anything right now. Is it one of the nitwit reporters they have down there...probably.

That depends on whether the owner values Harbaugh over Baalke, his highly regarded up-and-coming GM. Many think the relationship between the two has soured so badly that the owner will have to let one go ...and if they can pick up draft picks for Harbaugh, he might be the one to move on.

I think there is a chance that the owner would pick Baalke. Nobody likes Harbaugh in that organization and they feel he isn't a team player. More of a divisive influence (at least according to rumors). That team is loaded with talent that was obtained by the GM...not Harbaugh.

Personally, I think SF would be foolish to let him go just based on his success these last 3 years.....but if he left, he would have to go to a situation where he has complete control of the team and the roster.

how long is his contract for?

he gets traded, sticks around for a year and then leaves?
He is under contract with the 49ers through 2015. I assume any trade involving him would require a new long term deal at the time of the trade.

Jason "High-Five" Cole is the one who is throwing this around on Twitter. He even admitted he is just speculating and guessing what could happen next offseason. Not only that, Jason La Canfora threw the same thing against the wall last month during the GM search. Right now this isn't something on Ross' mind, maybe he starts thinking about it if the team bombs this upcoming season, but right now this really is not a conversation that is taking place.

Gods I hope their owner is dumb enough to choose the GM over Harbaugh (and Harbaugh doesn't end up with the Jets).

Is the team really loaded with talent or is it smoke and mirrors? They had a lot of those same players before Harbuagh got there yet didn't do much. Had Tannehill played to 100 passer rating the Miami Dolphins would appear to be loaded with talent too.

There aren't a lot of coaches I wouldn't trade away if someone were offering me a couple of #1 picks, especially if those teams weren't expected to do well and I was reasonably certain that those picks would be in the top 10.

Most likely with him it's a power-play for more money and more say in player/personnel decisions. In the end SF will give him both. He's gone very deep into the playoffs all three of his years, they'd be stupid to let him anywhere near the door.

The compensated Oakland with picks for buying out Gruden's contract, but they never traded fro the rights to Gruden.

Plus, the Bucs were a Super Bowl caliber team at the time of the deal. They didn't really need the draft pics, and Gruden was excited to stay with a team with a real chance.

Contrast that with our situation. If you're Harbaugh, do you want to join an 8-8 team with real problems both on and off the field, and they just traded off a couple high draft picks?

As they say on TV - "C'mon, man."

It's not far fetched for a loud mouth successful head coach who wants more power to have a divorce with his present team, it's happened before and will happen again....I don't think he wants Miami but given the man crush Ross has on him I wouldn't be surprised if he made him the highest paid coach in history with total control....I can see that happening, will it, probably not......

Regardless of who coaches this circus... we don't win a championship with a franchise QB.

Then I guess lucky for the Dolphins odds are very high Miami has one of the new wave of up and coming franchise QBs.

[FONT=Georgia, Times New Roman, Palatino, serif]What if the 49ers don't make the Super Bowl but the dolphins win the Super Bowl next year? then this is moot
thoughts?

Exactly, Philbin fails, then OK, this might happen, but for now, it's Philbin's job to lose.
