MERGED: Schefter and Mort: Miami will be in mix for Manning

If a rb with a high ankle sprain can't get cleared to play why would a qb with a bad neck for heavens sake let the doctors and trainers do their jobs and quit conjuring up disaster scenarios. If Johnny Knox can come back from the hit he took I am sure Manning will be fine.

if manning turns out to be healthy , how is this a bad idea? for those that claim manning is done and will never play again, can you please provide proof ? and for those who claim that they had the same surgery and still have weakness in there arms, please don't tell me that you people think that the average person can afford the same level of intense therapy and rehab that a pro athlete can get.
man i wonder what some people are thinking on this board. i sometimes wonder if people come on here just to argue with each other.
sorry but in my opinion a healthy manning is a better option than any other qb available (in my opinion) and comparing manning to that diva favre. LMFAO!
I agree...a healthy Peyton Manning is better than 97% of starting QB's in the game today. As far as paying a kings ransom ... only an idioit would pay that for a guy who sat out all year with a neck injury .. he could go for a second round pick.

I would rather go after Flynn....Although we would be a prime spot for Manning because he doesn't want to play his brother, doesn't want to live in the same city as his brother and compete, and the Jets have ZERO cap room.

Peyton Manning should retire. It wont end well for him if he decides to play again. I don't want him in Miami.

Jets are in a down spin about to crash and hit the floor. Manning is going to have alot of trouble in arizona IMO. I think he would like to come here if we trade up and get blackman. Reggie, Marshall, and Blackman = Manning. ONLY IF HE IS HEALTHY. If he isn't than FLYNN would surely be a perfect fit with Philbin.

His spine is stronger after the fusion than it was before...its a matter of whether the nerve has regenerated sufficiently. If it has and our doctors clear him, why not hire him. Its only money and at the very least his presence and vast knowledge of the position will benefit the team. As far as comparing his recovery with those on this board, c'mon, the guy is an elite professional athlete...there is NO comparison. Sign him up Ross!

as far as i know if the colts trade manning( i could be wrong ) but i believe the colts take a hit of 35 million against the cap. having said that i think the colts maybe forced to cut manning imo.
and to have manning if healthy for the next 2 or 3 years while we groom a rookie qb . why not try? manning makes us a contender . again if he's healthy and if he gets cut.

It wouldn't cost us any draft picks, so why not take a look?

Your assumption of Manning's spine being stronger is 100% incorrect ... Spinal Fusion Surgery DOESN'T differentiate between an Athlete and a Non Athlete!!! Once the Metal or Titanium Plate is attached to the spine, there is no way a person can be 100% EVER AGAIN!!! The Human Body won't allow it, due to the movement restrictions and impingement's the plate will cause naturally within the body .. Do your Homework before you make your assumptions!!! If Manning gets cleared to play, good luck to him!!! but he will never be 100% or close to it ... and that's not counting the serious risk he takes with each and every snap he takes!!!

hahaha.. no thanks he blows.. i cant believe i heard that on this forum about peyton manning. peyton manning is the best quarterback of our generation. no body compares to peyton manning. a healthy peyton is the best qb in the game.. if he did what he did with the colts crappy *** team, what would he do with the dolphins?

Ill take Flynn over Manning....gotta picture long-term

I realize that Peyton will bring an immediate upgrade but thats only IF he is healthy and can play. I just think that getting Peyton is just another band-aid for us and we need to stop with the temporary solutions. I honest thing Matt Flynn is the better risk here. Granted he doesnt have a lot of proof but the little he does is pretty great. He is young, has learned from a GREAT quarterback in Green Bay and already has experience with our new coach. I dont see a better fit.

I agree with you 100% The only questions with Flynn come from lack of experience and playing time .. but he is a fit .. hopefully not at an exorbitant amount of money!!!
