Merged: The Official Ryan Grice-Mullen Thread

Teddy could shake and bake but Grice-Mullins and Bess have that ability to gain seperation unless Ted or Pat. Lets all pray this guy can be atleast what bess is.

Ted Ginn had neither the ability to seperate OR to "shake and bake" ... He could just run away from people. He rarely made people miss in the pro's. College was a different story, but in the NFL, the only thing shakin on him was.. well.. his whole body when he saw someone coming up to put a hit on him.

Ted Ginn could not shake and bake at all. He could outrun people, but he had 0 ability to shake and bake.

Not sure what exactly you boys are smoking RGM is not Ginns equal..., don't even go there... As inconsistent Ginn is RGM is less spectacular...

I could be talking all day about RGM, to me he is that good. The kid was a leader at Hawaii and older guys looked up to him and Bess for knowledge. Im telling you I really really hope he makes this team.

Are you gonna keep on this after he cuts then...? RGM is training camp fodder - if you can't seperate yourself in the CFL in a passing league - in a league that favours WRs and Return teams you are screwed in the NFL - and not to mention he isn't some tank that enjoys contact - what a laugh...

You are gonna look good if RGM makes the team:hclap:Ricky Williams did nothing in the CFL....

Cfl is almost a whole different game....

Brandon Jennings went overseas in basketball..did nothing

Now in the NBA killing it..

I like his highlights..but there has to be a reason he was cut by those NFL teams...

Glad were giving him a shot...

If he makes the team who do we get rid of?

Turner....all in favor..... I!

Ricky Williams is one of the best running backs to play the game and in Canada he did nothing. I guess the means Ricky is Training Camp fodder as well.

By the way the Fins need a KR/PR and I want you to tell me who do you see on the roster that can do that. The Fins usually carry five to six WRs. Who do you think wins those spots.

Obivously Marshall, Bess, Hartline and Camarillo are locks. So who is the other WR or WRs. Patrick Turner can not create separation if his life depended on it and cannot play special teams. He also could not crack the lineup and already Michael Moore and UDFA is said to be faster than him.

RGM has a legit chance to make the team. Ryan can play WR,KR & PR. I am also pretty sure he will not mind playing special teams. Another thing RGM played running back and the kid makes people miss and love to break ankles. To say the kid is just fooder, is BS.

Especially a team with so many UDFA.

Dolphins' rookie WR Ryan Grice-Mullen doesn't dread long odds of making team

DAVIE — Dreadlocked, sure-handed and quick-footed, Miami Dolphins wide receiver Ryan Grice-Mullen looks like Davone Bess and plays like Davone Bess.

But one Bess might be enough.

The pair starred together in college at Hawaii, but Grice-Mullen will need to establish his own identity to stick with the Dolphins.

The hole created in the return game last month by Ted Ginn Jr.'s trade could be his chance.

"As a young player that's your biggest way of making the team is special teams," Grice-Mullen said Saturday during the second day of rookie mini-camp. "But you still have to impress in other areas, too."

Grice-Mullen put up Bess-like numbers in June Jones' pass-happy system in Hawaii, but also built a pretty good résumé as a return man last season for the CFL's British Columbia Lions.

Playing on the league's 110-yard field, Grice-Mullen set a playoff record with a 106-yard punt return for a touchdown in a Nov. 22 loss to Montreal.

The Dolphins called the next day and eventually signed Grice-Mullen in January.

"You know how this game is," he said, "sometimes it's perfect timing."

Working with rookies and first-year players this weekend, Grice-Mullen hopes to get back in synch with Bess.

Known as the "Dreadheads," the duo caught 214 passes and 25 touchdowns as juniors in 2007 before declaring for the NFL Draft.

But while Bess caught on with Miami and excelled as an undrafted rookie, Grice-Mullen injured his hamstring, was cut by two teams and ended up in Canada.

Former college teammates join forces again with Miami Dolphins

They are used to the comparisons by now, having heard them from their very first game as college freshmen at Hawaii.

Statistically, they were nearly interchangeable during the three years they played together.

Skill-wise, they were pretty much the same.

Both played their high school ball in California.

Even their appearance could cause double-takes if they entered a crowded room together.

Sometimes it's hard to know where Davone Bess stops and Ryan Grice-Mullen begins.

"Davone is like my brother," Grice-Mullen says Saturday at Dolphins rookie minicamp. "We're both about the same height — he's a little wider, I'm a little slimmer. Both of us wear dreads. He started his before mine, but mine are a little longer."

If Bess were a Hollywood actor in need of a stuntman, Grice-Mullen would get the job, hands-down.

If Bess were a dictator in need of a body double, there would be no need for an audition.

At 5 feet 11, Grice-Mullen is one inch taller. At 190 pounds, Bess is 10 pounds heavier.

No way he's just fodder, they went after him early and hard when he became available. They've seen something. Also, one of the things that's a positive about this video is some of these highlights are against Pac-10 teams, one of the power conferences of college football. Now I'm not the kind of person who thinks that mid majors are necessarily inferior, but it tends to drop the stock of players in those conferences unless they are workout warriors (if Jerry Hughes played in the SEC or Big 12...I can safely bet he'd have been a top 15 pick). If RGM has the work ethic, I think he has the tools to make the team, we need another WR and I think the front office sees it as his job to lose.
