No, but ONE good year does not constitute a great QB. I prefer to see some consistency before I bank my team's future on a veteran QB.
He's had a lot more than 1 good year.
2000 QB Rating of 98, with 4400 total yards and 40 total TDs.
2003 QB Rating of 96.4 with 3900 total yards and 29 total TDs in 14 games
2004 QB Rating of 111 with 5100 total yards and 41 total TDs.
Even in 2002, his only subpar year before last year (and he really only played badly in the first 2 games last year with a new OC, new line, new receivers, loss of starting center, etc.), when you take into account his rushing numbers, he had almost 4500 total yards and 28 total TDs.
How many great seasons does a 28 year old QB have to have before you'd bank your future on him? I assume that means you'd never bank your future on a rookie QB who has proven absolutley nothing in the NFL.
If he can be had for a 2nd rounder, it is a no-brainer decision. How many multiple Pro Bowl QBs have ever been traded before the age of 30, let alone for a mid second round pick?
