MERGED x 2: Cam Wake Hold-Out Thread

agree with the premise you are putting forward but not quite agreeing with the Wake has less mileage or is "younger" than other 30 year olds. Its not as if he wasn't playing football before he came into the NFL. He played college ball at Penn State and if im not mistaken blew out his knee one year. Then got cut from the Giants.. not sure if he took a year off, but then went to the CFL for two years.

He has been playing as much football as any other 30 year old give or take one year. People will knock on the door if indeed he becomes available, because his pass rushing is a necessity in today's NFL... hopefully, we find a way to keep him around

franchise deadline passed... hes holding out now lol wanting to franchise him next year when hes a Free agent doesnt help us solve his holding out now.

He is NOT holding out now, he missed one voluntary workout.

A hold out happens come camp time. This is were the players miss the voluntary stuff to show their displeasure. It is the ONLY leverage they have.

Now if it is AUG and he has not showed up yet then worry about a holdout.

Lockout showed these players they can be ready to play come septemeber with a little offseason work

how much did he deserve one last year...wasnt he pretty much owned by the pats rookie tackle in game 1 and he didnt really get much better...

He was held the entire game, but still got pressure, and at least one sack.

i totally agree. im just jumping to the conclusion that 1... there will be just as little cap room to afford a Cam Wake level extension come training camp and 2. that Cam will be just as unhappy making 650k then as he is now.

the franchise tag doesnt come into play until next offseason.. he's been waiting 2 years and wants something done for this season instead of playing out the final year of his contract for 650k with no long term job security as one of the premier pass rushers in the game.

While I get that. Could he hold out to week 10, then show up and get an accued season... YES...

Would he? I dont think so, these players know that would hurt their chance at the next paycheck.

The thing is because of how he was handled in MIA would he give a hometown discount I dont think so I think you will have to pay fair market value at this point.

What is interesting to me is where is all your CAP space, I dont know to much of your numbers but there is not alot of premier talent on the team to be so strapped CAP wise?

At Cam's age and level of play only making 600k is going to be a problem come TC. There's no getting around that. It's not overreacting. This FO better find out a way to get him a new contract. For those of you claiming he's not worth extending.. ugh. He has the most impact of any player on our team.

thats the million dollar question, and quite honestly the most pathetic issue about our entire roster lol

O-kay. I'll make this simple: your opinion is wrong.

What opinion? I have lots of them. I also know how to articulate them, unlike retards throwing cheap shots on these forums like you buddy.

The reason we don't have much cap space is that unlike almost every other team out there, we aren't restructuring contracts to push the cap hit out to other years. If we did that, we could clear a bunch of room.

He presented you with statistical facts and you just blinked at him. Did he really need to preface that link by saying: THIS IS WHY I THINK CAM WAKE PLAY GOOD AND DESERVE $$$

Alot of teams do not do that either.

The Bills did one restructure and it was a Pay Cut to McGee to stick with the team. And yet they signed a 100M dollar pass rusher, a 20M dollar pass rusher, resigned Stevie johnson, their two OGs, Kicker and other depth players.

and yet still have more room Cap wise than the Dolphins. You have to be carrying alot of DEAD Money

He linked an article to me. What does statistical facts have to do with what I said? I never said he wasnt a good player or he didnt deserve to get paid. What exactly is it that he disagreed with me on?????? Shesh you people are thick

Trade him for a 1st or 2nd(hes 30 aint he?) and draft Nick Perry/Ronnell Lewis/Vinny Curry.

It is sad that the cap would even be talked about as a constraint with a team this devoid of talent.

Exactly what I was thinking. How the hell is it possible that we can't even afford to pay the man. Where the hell is all our cap space? We need to lock Cam Wake up, that's all there is to it. He's the only pass rush we got.

Ok according to a very good site in terms of Contracts..... you are not that BAD off CAP wise.

http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/miami-dolphins/cap-hit/

92,988,571 that is your 2012 CAP number after the roll over applied that you all applied for.

8,900,000 - that is your roll over

Active Contracts - 100,388,571

Dead money - 1,500,000

So actually you have the room to get something done with him.

Also Dansby carrying a 12.8M hit OUCH?
