Miami has the hardest SOS in the AFC East, 18th Overall

how in the world do the pats always end up with the softest sched and finish in first place??? its freakin crazy

2 of the last 3 years we have advanced further than NE, we are closer to NE than you guys are to us.

God almighty, I want some of what this guy is smokin!

Who the hell cares what you did "2 of the last 3 years"????? I love how you bring up this stupid argument time after time. Let's face it, the Jets are nowhere near an elite team! New England is an elite team.....the Jets are not an elite team! You ARE closer to us whether you like to admit it or not. Hell, I can admit my team was bad last year. Here let me draw it up for you...

Elite.....the Patriots 13-3
Very Good
Good
Average (mediocre)....the Jets 8-8
Below Average.....the Dolphins 6-10, the Bills 6-10

Based on LAST season....not 2 out of the last 3 years, not 5 of the last 7 years, not the last decade, RECENTLY!

based on last season we were mediocre and you guys were closer to us than we were to NE BUT based on the last 3 years we have advanced further than NE 2 of the 3 years including whipping them at NE in postseason.

Last season was a fluky year, I will be shocked if we similar results. I trust 2 of 3 more than 1 of 3.

The Jets overcame the Patriots in the divisional round of the playoffs. The ONLY team to ever win at NE w/ Brady in the div rd or title game and one of just 2 teams overall to ever win a playoff game at Gillette.

How are we lumped in w/ Mia & Buf when we have 4 playoff wins in the last 3 years which is twice as many as Mia, Buf AND NE since 2008? It's 4 more than Mia and Buf since 2001.
The Jets have only managed to beat the Patriots only twice (and I am being nice by including the playoff win), that's it, during Blow Hard's tenor. Which means the Jets, along with the Dolphins and the Bills, make the Patriots strength of schedule rank appear easier.

The only way the Jets playoff wins come into play is by making other teams schedules appear more difficult. That and it proves you can't judge a team based on when they play other teams during the year.

You can talk playoff wins until you are blue in the face. until one of us puts the Patriots away during the regular season, we are nothing more than easy wins.

If you are being nice and including the most important game played btw the 2 tams under rex then the Jets have beaten NE 3 times. They spplit in the '09 & '10 reg seasons. Overall the Jets are 3-4 against NE under Rex

I'd rather beat NE in January in the div than beat them out for a div title and lose in the WC or div rd- of course I'd prefer to do both:chuckle:

With this logic, the Jets will never have a losing season again for the rest of the time.

where did I say they were guaranteed to be good? I said I EXPECT them to be good, I expected them to be good last year too. It doesn't always work out that way but I think this team is too well coached and has too much talent to be as bad as they were last year.

Yep I am a homer for discussing the FACTS. Clearly we are on the same level as Buf and Miami who have combined for ZERO playoff wins since 2001(and only 2 playoff apps) rather than NE who we have twice the amount of playoff wins as NE(including beating them up at NE). yep, I'm just a homer:lol:

Now deflect w/ silly statements that I never made, typical. Move along if you want to live in your fairy tale world rather than reality.

Here are some FACTS for you. The Jets finished with 8 wins. The Patriots with 14 wins, and the Dolphins with 6 wins. The Dolphins were 2 wins from the the Jets, and the Jets were 6 wins from the Patriots. What's the smaller number junc, 2 or 6? You're a smart guy, I think my point should be obvious to you. Your statement was ridiculous blatant homerism. The Jets, like it or not, are on the same level as the Bills and Dolphins, with the Patriots head and shoulders ahead of all 3 of us. Anything else you try to claim is spin, which you are particularly adept at...

That's great but my post was about the last 3 years not just this past season. AGAIN, this past season we were closer to Mia/Buf than NE but not overall the last 3 seasons and we shouldn't be lumped in w/ 2 franchises that have had zero success when the jets have been one of the most successful franchises in the Rex years.

One of us is being a homer here and it's not me, how you can compare Buf/Mia to the jets over these 3 years is beyond me.

2009-2011 AFC East:

playoff apps
NE 3
NYJ 2
Buf ZERO
Mia ZERO

playoff wins
NYJ 4
NE 2
Buf ZERO
Mia ZERO

winning seasons
NE 3
NYJ 2
Buf ZERO
Miami ZERO

Losing seasons
NYJ ZERO
NE ZERO
Buf THREE
Mia THREE

head to head playoff wins aong AFC East teams
NY Jets 28 NE Patriots 21, 2010 div rd at NE

yeah, we are closer to Buf/Mia than NE- I'm such a homer:lol:

There's a huge difference btw making 2 of 3 postseasons and competing for 32 than not competing for any.

Thank you for letting me know, I can now save myself time, money and emotion tied to these games.

lol you know what you tried to do

I see a lot of excuses- 2009 we got Colts backups but you lost to 2 teams in the last 3 weeks that we beat earlier that season and neither would make the playoffs.

You can call them excuses, but when there was only a 1 game difference in common games in 09 I think it is significant that the Jets got to play the Colts backups while the Dolphins had to face the starters the whole game. We saw how the Jets did against the Colts starters a few weeks later losing 30 to 17.

2010- that bad call HELPED Miami, it gave you a chance. if they call that a fumble Pitt is getting the ball back near midfield after they force you to punt from your EZ. You got the ball at your 29 needing to get into FG range for a good K w/ 2:20 to play. You had a chance and blew it.

You sure have a strange way of looking at things. That call gave Pitt a chip shot FG to take the lead with around 2:30 left in the game. The Dolphins would have had the ball on their own 20 with 2:30 left in the game and a 2 point lead had the correct call been made in the first place. All they would have needed was 1 first down, and the game would have been over. Even if they have to punt, that would have given Pitt the ball back with no timeouts needing anywhere from 20 to 40 yards. Instead Pitt took the lead with a gimme FG.

The Dolphins did blow the games against Cle and Det, but the Jets also struggled with those teams. Those same non playoff teams took the Jets to OT and only lost because of stupid decisions . Both teams had the games won if they had played smarter much like the Cowboy game in 11.

2011: we do, the Jets BEAT the Cowboys and Miami LOST to them.

Yep, and the Jets were given the game with horrible ST blocking which resulted in a Jets TD, and stupid play calling which resulted in a Romo Fumble on the Jets 1, and a horrible throw which gave the Jets the ball in FG range to tie it. The Jets got outplayed in that game and were lucky to win.

Last I checked the div games count:

2009: NYJ 7-5, Mia 5-7
2010: NYJ 8-4, Mia 4-8
2011: NYJ 5-6, Mia 4-7

Over 3 years in common games: NYJ 20-15, Mia 13-22

Not very close.

7 more wins against common opps
4 playoff wins vs. ZERO
2 playoff apps vs. ZERO
8 more reg season wins overall

yep, we are neck and neck:lol:

Considering the Jets are the ONLY team to reach 2 title games in the last 3 years and no team has more playoff wins than the Jets in that span I would say they have been elite the last 3 years.

Last I checked wins against the Jets count. There are only 6 division games each year and 12 conference games, so I am not sure where you are getting your records from when the 2011 reocrds you gave total 11 games.

Both the Jets and Dolphins are 9-9 in the division the last 3 years. In the other common games the Jets have a total of 4 more wins than the Dolphins in 3 years.

Considering everything mentioned above from the scheduling that allowed the Jets to play backups and everything else, 4 games in 3 years is very close.

Elite teams don't struggle to make the playoffs in 09 and need other teams to let them in. Elite teams don't win 8 games and miss the playoffs in 2011.
