Miami has the hardest SOS in the AFC East, 18th Overall

Really? when did this happen? can you provide evidence of this? I have been here since 2004, Miami has made the postseason ONCE in that span while the Jets have made the postseason 4 times so when was I strictly bringing up the head to head and dismissing the overall? why would I do that since we were better nearly every year?
You made the playoffs six times and it was a given the Jets were better. But you pleasure in letting us know how we fared head to head when the Jets were kicking our asses. Only now do you bring up overall because of the Jets decline last season which you are having trouble accepting.

I find your comments very interesting since Miami has had a better record than the Jets just 2 times since I have been on this board(2005 & 2008) and we split w/ you both of those seasons so what would I have been bragging about? dominating most of the decade of the 00s? I don't brag, I only bring these things up when you guys bash but I'm sure I brought up the domination of Miami in the 00s but it's not like Miami had any playoff success to point to. Miami has not won a playoff game since I have been on this board, if we were beating you and you had playoff success and I was was talking about the reg seasn wins you'd have a point. I'd muhc rather lose to Miami and win in January than the other way around. At no point did I diminish dolphin playoff success b/c we had reg season success against Miami. You are confused.

That's great but my post was about the last 3 years not just this past season. AGAIN, this past season we were closer to Mia/Buf than NE but not overall the last 3 seasons and we shouldn't be lumped in w/ 2 franchises that have had zero success when the jets have been one of the most successful franchises in the Rex years.

One of us is being a homer here and it's not me, how you can compare Buf/Mia to the jets over these 3 years is beyond me.

2009-2011 AFC East:

playoff apps
NE 3
NYJ 2
Buf ZERO
Mia ZERO

playoff wins
NYJ 4
NE 2
Buf ZERO
Mia ZERO

winning seasons
NE 3
NYJ 2
Buf ZERO
Miami ZERO

Losing seasons
NYJ ZERO
NE ZERO
Buf THREE
Mia THREE

head to head playoff wins aong AFC East teams
NY Jets 28 NE Patriots 21, 2010 div rd at NE

yeah, we are closer to Buf/Mia than NE- I'm such a homer:lol:

The Dolphins won the Superbowl in 72 and 73, so we're better than the Jets. Oh wait, that was in the past and no longer relevant? You're right, but it's equally as relevant as bringing up any season besides the last one. If you need to stretch your history back beyond last season to make your point, then your point is invalid. You know I'm right, you're just too stubborn to accept the fact that your team had it's time in the sun, and it's back to mediocrity, right where the Jets have always been...

Clearly 1972 & 73 are as relevant to 2012 as 2009 & 2010 are.

Obviously you are right, 2 of the last 3 years is ancient history. All that matters is the last season, if that is the case how did the Giants win the SB last year? I guess that means Miami is getting worse since they won less games than they did '08-'10?

Yep we have fallen back to mediocrity, maybe some day Miami can elevate back to mediocrity?

who cares....this is usually based on the previous year and with so much parity in the NFL, teams arent usually the same the following year (just ask the Colts)...

Here's a fact that may make you feel better...Based on 2011, Patriots have NFL easiest 2012 schedule. But team with easiest schedule has missed playoffs each of the past 5 years.

Preseason sos is as useless as a screen door on a submarine!

where did I say they were guaranteed to be good? I said I EXPECT them to be good, I expected them to be good last year too. It doesn't always work out that way but I think this team is too well coached and has too much talent to be as bad as they were last year.

The Jets, just like any other team, will eventually suck again. In order for that to happen, your record is going to start dipping. Their record dipped last year but you're saying it was a fluke and will dismiss it while going on the belief that the two years prior, both semi-successful, are the real Jets.

With that logic, as I said, you're making it seem like they will never be bad again. Now if they go 7-9 this year, what next?

Much easier to only bring up the last 3 years when your team has had success in two of the three years. Why not 5 years? 10? 30?

of course they will suck again at some point but I don't expect it anytime soon. Yes, I think the 2 successful years tell us more than the one unsuccessful year. One year is fluky but 2 years proves something. If they struggle again this year i'll re-evaluate.

So you don't think the last few years can tell us antyhing about the future? you think 2010 is like 1973?

Hey don't worry guys, Tebow still has Tony's old playbook from the Senior Bowl!

Who knew a bad year after two decent years was fluky?

The past doesn't necessarily dictate the future. Teams rise and drop all the time. It's convenient for you b/c you're using the 3 year window for the Jets when they've been their most successful.

2 of the last 3 years we have advanced further than NE, we are closer to NE than you guys are to us.

Things that happened 4 years ago mean nothing..... Absolutely irrelevant. The 2009 Jets might have been closer, but how does that effect the upcoming year in the slightest? It's not like the Jets have improved since then. Just got thinner, less talented, older, and more distracted.

Hit the nail on the head.

Making a Championship Game is a "decent" year?

I am using this 3 year window b/c it is the 3 years we have had rex as our HC and sanchez as our QB- should I use the '96 Jets as a reference point? The core of this team has won as many playoff games as any team in the league the last 3 years, they have winning experience. Nothing is ever guaranteed in this league but w/ the talent on the team, the coahcing and the winning experience it would be foolish to dismiss them.
