Miami running game has been doing well. 5.2 yds/carry, 137 yds/game.

It's not a consolation prize.

It's for identifying the current strengths & weaknesses of the team, and identifying why the offense has been so anemic (Tannehill).

It's also useful for showing that after a 1-2 start, fans shouldn't be calling for Miami to tank the season. With a good running game, simply adding deep ball chemistry with Mike Wallace could open things up, and turn this entire offense around.

Being an unfortunate fan of this team for almost 30 years, I can undoubtedly tell you that clinging onto the "what if's" will lead you towards insanity. Thid team will not win under Philbin, Hickey or whatever the hell his name is and Tannehill. Sick of the what ifs...

All this regime is going to give you is enough hope with a big win later in the year only to completely fall on their face and leave you pissed and bitter. Same crap every year. It starts with the owner. HE sucks and has zero football sense.

- Miami is #1 in yards per rushing attempt.

- Miami is DEAD LAST in yards per passing attempt.

Not complicated: Run the ball often, pass the ball well.

We don't do either.

I guarantee we would win more games if we followed some simple criteria:

* Run the ball at least 28 times regardless of yards gained or lost

* Throw every pass at least 5 yards downfield. Don't waste time with parallel trash or screen trash

* Throw a minimum of 4 deep balls, and including that number at least 10 balls that are 15+ yards beyond the line of scrimmage

Also, you're supposed to remove your glove when putting.

Why isn't Lazor getting more blame for this? From all the hype I read I thought he was supposed to be awesome and help the QB shine with a brilliantly designed offense. This is not to excuse Tannehill at all, he isn't consistent and makes poor choices. This is not to put all the blame on Lazor either, but why has the passing offense turned to ****? Lazor needs to do a better job running the offense with his players skills in mind. The passing offense is near the bottom of the league and other teams have equally ****ty or worse QBs.

Good to know our running games is doing well. Now I have a better idea of why we are AFRAID to run the ball on 3rd and 1, or on 4th and 1 we feel we need to do a delayed draw from the shotgun to get those short yards....

I am not excusing Philbin at all. He is the boss and responsible for team performance. I am pointing out the much hyped Lazor isn't getting it done.

This is why I never wanted Philbin, nor the type of offense that he wants to run. Philbin wants the short passing game to take the place of the running game; that's how he explained his offense when he was hired. Sure, he might say that they need to run more, but it rarely happens. He did away with the true FB position... no more automatic 1st downs on 3rd or 4th and short like with Polite. I remember Sherman implying during an interview after a loss that he wanted to run more but Philbin said no. This offense seems completely unprepared to start games, and often can't get their first score until nearly half-time. Lazor's offense has not been an upgrade over Sherman. There may be more movement pre-snap, but the results are the same; short gains, few points, and too many stalled drives. When the running game is working, they stop running. Henne to Marshall (when he wasn't dropping TDs) was a far better quick-strike option than Tannehill to Wallace. With Tannehill, Miami has no quick-strike capability.

The rankings posted above shows Miami #1 in yards per rushing attempt and last in yards per passing attempt, yet they continue to favor a poor passing game over a decent to above-average running game. What kind of idiots are running this team?
