Michael Sam: I'd be excited to be drafted by Dolphins

Expound on that please. What questions do you think reporters be asking 3 or 4 weeks after the initial hoopla is over?
Better than that, it's going to happen. Lets see who is right.

Michael Sam has more interest in playing with the Fins then about half a dozen GM candidates that were interviewed.

Is Michael Sam really good enough that we even bother talking about him? I'm burned out on Michael Sam - enough already.

Yeah, I got it - he's gay.

Is Michael Sam really good enough that we even bother talking about him . Hype Hype Hype.

Well, he was SEC defensive player of the year...

So yeah, he's far from a scrub, and Mayock compared him to Trent Cole today, who absolutely killed it for Philly this past year.

Everyone seems to forget all this though.

This is comparable to the Manti Te'o drama. How quickly did that burn out? Its never brought up unless its a reminder of how quickly stories blow over.

And this is directed at the entire class, not necessarily your post Phantom: for those objecting to drafting Michael Sam because of "media distraction", i hope you made that same argument when people were making "sign Tim Tebow!" threads.

I would agree with you that this would be blown over quickly....If....it were any other team.

When it's the Miami Dolphins against the media, I think the media wins every time.

We already have Jonathan Martin, the very LAST thing we need is Michael "Hey, look at me" Sam!

We DON'T want Sam here in Miami.

If there's any position we don't need to draft its DE. Seems like a quality dude with some good pass rush skills but it would simply be a luxury pick that we can't afford.

hell, jon martin is 10x gayer than he is and the dude paid 700 bucks for ****ty blowjobs

Michael Sam was honest with his Mizzou teammates and had the guts to ask if they had a problem with it. All of this was kept from the media, all season. However, the team secret eventually got out and he started fielding questions from NFL personnel about his sexuality and he told them the truth. There is no "Hey look at me", he just wanted to get ahead of the rumors.
His former roommate NY Jets D-lineman, Sheldon Richardson, described him as a player totally committed to his football and called him a "killer" on the field.

I like how people think he came out for attention. Yes, totally makes sense. Come out of the closet just before the draft, most likely hurting your draft status and costing you money. Who wouldn't do that for a little extra attention?

It's pretty clear he wanted to live his life without hiding. He wanted to control the situation rather than being outed by TMZ one day. I don't blame him one bit. He got it out there and now he just needs to hope a team can work with his lack of a true defensive position.

I hope he has a great career, and I hope that if we draft him, we do it because he can help the team. I hate to say it, but I can see us taking him, even if he doesn't prove well at the combine/pro day, just to show how inviting our locker room is to people of all creeds, sexualities, etc. It would be a total PR move to try and make us look good. I hope that we have on field production as a priority when it comes to this one.

If we weren't stacked at DE then I wouldn't mind drafting him in the fifth. But we have other needs
