**** Michigan Football ****

Just finished watching the spring game. We'll be fine at QB. Both looked good but I'll give the nod to O'Korn. I think he is more of a natural talent than Speight. Both moved the ball well against the defense which was surprising. I know Don Brown can't be real happy with that.

Bush, McCray, Isaac, Cole, Mitchell, Thomas all stood out.

Brown was ran it very vanilla, a lot of the starters were given rest, and we had a lot of walk ons playing.

Yeah Speight looks like a completely different guy and looks confident, reports are right now Speight has a slight edge because O'Korn is too quick to run. But they're clearly ahead of Shane and Peters (and Malzone).

So Michigan got another 2 commits; one in another RB in O'Maury Samuels. That's the 3rd RB for the class, and Samuels has insanely good film and is an athletic freak. Could see him rise in rankings, big knock is he plays in New Mexico... not a hot bed. The other is DT/OG (and Bryan Mone's cousin) Phillip Paea... also got 2 commits from 2 elite 2018 defenders from Ohio in teammates 5 star DE/DT Leonard Taylor 4 star and LB Antwuan Johnson.

And the top C in the country Cesar Ruiz named us leader. While he's playing at IMG, he was teammates and good friends with Ron Johnson and Brad Hawkins.

banning camps isn't as huge of a blow to Michigan as you'd think Harbaugh liked doing them, but hardly a big hit. But SEC and NCAA is righfully getting called out for the ban

If the ban didn't happen the SEC was going to start allowing it's teams to do it. Then every off season will become a big circus with teams holding camps all over the nation.

The loser in the camp issue is the kids that can't afford to travel far from home. These camps got them exposure to alot more schools obviously increasing their opportunity to get into a school, play football and get an education. The SEC and ACC deserve the backlash they're getting and I wouldnt be surprised if approval for this doesnt come up again in the future.

I don't think the SEC/ACC/NCAA realized they'd get so much backlash. I know Hugh Freeze talked about how much he didn't want to do it, but then backtracked a lot of statements because the ban prevents mid major schools to come and help run camps at his campus. Which all of a sudden he's fine with but he didn't want Power 5 schools traveling.

Funny enough I also laugh how a lot of SEC people got mad at David Shaw for saying he had no opinion on satellite camps since most of the time only 1 kid if that at the camps could get into Stanford.

Official visits are paid for by the university so anyone being recruited can travel anywhere they want. The ones it will hurt are those one and two stars with potential who could gain exposure. However, there are still plenty of camps for that. I really think the rest of the country got a break here, they really don't want the SEC and ACC big boys holding camps all over the country. It might have benefited Michigan and Ohio State but would have killed a lot of other schools without the monster budget and would have even further concentrated the premier talent into a handful of schools. FSU would have been one of those schools so it's not a sour grapes thing, I just like that there is some parity.

Official Visit to the university is paid for not a trip to a camp. Michigan coaches don't do these solo. Mid level coaches help out and kids that are restricted in travel because of finances get more exposure when camps come to their backyard. Not sure how anyone can argue against giving these kids the most opportunities they can get. As for the SEC dominance, the rest of the country is catching up and Saban doesn't like it. What's interesting is that a couple of conferences (Pac12 and Big 12) voted against it yet rumor is that the majority of their coaches were in favor of it.

If I supported a team in Florida I wouldn't want Harbaugh in my backyard either. It's a ripe recruiting area with big schools vying for some of the best talent in the country.

Apparently some guy from the Rivals site is saying that Brandon Peters is homesick and looking to transfer. First, he's 3 hours from home. Second, its not unusual for the early enrollees to go through this. It normally works it out as the other freshmen report over the summer. Finally, this appears to be a BS report because no one at Schembechler Hall has any knowledge of it. Still worth keeping in the back of your mind.

Harbaugh and Meyer will get theirs with or without the camps. There are plenty of camps for these kids to get exposure, they just won't get as much out of state exposure. Chances are though, if a kid's got talent at all then he's getting a scholarship somewhere. I personally don't give a crap because FSU has plenty of budget to do whatever but I'd just as soon keep as much of our fertile recruiting grounds protected as possible.

As always you give an objective and honest thought. Few fans from the SEC and ACC teams that I have spoken to can admit that this is a part of the issue.

I appreciate the complement. Competitive advantage is always an issue. FSU is at a disadvantage at times because we don't have as deep of an alumni legacy pool but it is what it is. Every school and every area has some competitive advantage if they can find and exploit it. Ours happens to be proximity to amazing recruiting grounds and a history of winning...and amazing women. Hey, whatever works!
