Mike Freeman: Philbin has to be fired

Because it's a reasonable expectation if you have solid leadership from the coaching staff and in the locker room, this doesn't happen.

Joe does not survive this. Too much of a firestorm.

Too bad because I do not think he would want anything bad to happen to Martin, but just wanted him to be a better player.

Martin in turn took a radical approach to stop the bullying leaving a trail of destruction in his wake.

While it may turn out that there are tangible reasons to fire Philbin when the smoke clears, this isn't one of them. You couldn't have drawn a better analogy, and of course put a spotlilght on the preferred status the league affords Kraft and the Cheatriots. Whether Philbin could have prevented bullying, Belicheat had a heads-up about Hernandez long before he may well have become a multiple murderer and more proactive intervention might have preempted at least one murder.

Of course 2 wrongs don't make a right, but in terms of egregiousness, at least handle the fins the way NE was treated ferchrissake!

PS: how's my new sig look?

I would take any one of those buffoon to be leaders on the fins over the ones in Davie right now.......

This kind of whining makes our fan base look pathetic.

This is border line bullying...Were you angry as you typed or sipping coffee while scratching a head itch. We need to gauge your state of mind to see if it needs reporting.

The Patriots knew what they were getting and were aware of the company that Hernandez was keeping. Problem is they couldn't prevent it. I think everyone not media related out of New England saw that as a clear failure but thosein the media and in NE deemed it "a risk" instead of what it truly was.

It pisses me off to no end that somehow BB and NE came out of there mess totally unscathed but it has no effect on my own thoughts on this mess.

Seriously. Bill Belichick has the most wins of any active HC and has 3 Super Bowl rings. WHAT HAS JOE PHILBIN EVER DONE???

So using that logic, you'd be philosophical about Hernandez killing one of your family, right?

New sig is great! There are real examples all throughout the league where a coach knew something and should go but doesn't. I swear if all the people on this forum were Bucs fans they would want to fire Schiano not because he sucks but because there is mrsa in the locker room. He should have known.

I've been a Dolphins fan my whole life and want nothing but the best for the team...you may not agree with what I believe is best for the team, but it is what I believe.

Sometimes it helps to look at the situation objectively instead of through aqua colored lenses....

Hitting rock bottom and firing a coach who at this point knew nothing of mean words from one player to another is not something ill ever agree with. You're right. And seriously, we are talking about mean words. Not murder, rape, drunk driving, or anything else that happens in this league. Mean words.

Threats, harrassment and extorting money are not just mean words.

When I first read the title of the thread, I thought it said, "Philbin has been fired". I was freaking out.

That we know of. We don't know the context of the voicemail, just the transcript. What specific harassment is there? We know Cog stole Martin's car. Oh wait, it was Martin who stole someone else's car.

We do know they hung out together. We do know the team has Cog's back. So right now all I can assume is it is just some mean words that set of a spoiled brat kid who's wussy parents told him how great he was and now he isn't the greatest at something he wants to smash it.

Shiano would have known about this! He's got his fingers in every single thing the Bucs do.

We need a dictatorial coach like him. Maybe Saban will come back?

Actually, we're talking about a hostile workplace. You can try to diminish the severity of the problem by reducing it to just "mean words" but if the investigation determines that Incognito created a hostile work environment and the team in some way encouraged it, this is a pretty serious matter.

Unfortunately Philbin will probably lose his job over this. I don't want him to but the political correctness society will corner Ross until he lets Philbin go.
