Mike Lombardi: Dolphins want Ryan Tannehill over Flynn

if you plan on getting matt barkley in 2013 you better plan on having a top 3 pick in 2013...max...cause matt barkley and the usc o are gonna light up the scoreboard...he's probably going #1 overall in 2013

so plan on losing a lot if you want to sniff matt barkley

The only reason that Tannehide is a "Projected 1st rounder" is because this draft is not a very good draft and Mike Shermans big mouth.People can talk til they are Blue in the face about this guy but fact is his arm is a little above average and his accuracy is average. The only skill he really is very good pocket presence.

Miami needs an Impact player at 8 and hes not "it".I would roll the dice in the 2nd but not in the 1st unless we had 2 picks.

Very impressive. I like this video too, showing every pass he threw during the game. Shows solid accuracy and deep touch, and of course, good scrambling ability. His 1 INT was, in part, due to his WR giving up on the ball, and that INT was his only incomplete pass for almost half the video.

That video isn't overly impressive. He didn't really get the job done in the 2nd half (as usual) he threw behind receivers, that one pick he threw was terrible and he should have thrown at least 2 if Arkansas' d didn't suck so bad. I remember that game, Tannehill, just like against OK St and Texas, had ample opportunity to win that game and failed. Not impressed

Finally a tiny bit of good news....Tannehill IMHO has way more physical tools and upside potential than Flynn. Tannehill is bigger, faster and has a stronger arm than Flynn IMHO. Flynn seems like a pure system (i.e., short passing game) type QB he just seems average at best, however Tannehill seems like he could be a future star, but there is noway IMHO that Tannehill could start day 1, he would need to sit just like Rodgers did.

Wow get some sleep my friend as that was just an awful post. Yikes!

Id rather have Peyton Manning or Brandon Weeden than Matt Flynn or Ryan Tannehill... Because Flynn and Tannehill both suck. I don't see the problem.

IF Philbin, Sherman and Ireland think he is legit and ready to come in and compete from day one, picking him at #8 is not a reach.

NRA says THANKS to MO DOLPHAN for this post.

This is the media again controlling who the fins get. Sending signals to Flynn so he doesnt go to Miami.

Tommorrow, I think it would be great to land Dallas Clark. He knows Philbin and went to his sons funeral.

think about a trade out with seattle from jax standpoint...after gabbert blows chunks all over the field in 2012 which he's gonna do they would have the ammo if need be in 2013 with 2 #1's to go up and get their qb whoever that may be and if they are moving to los angeles or out of jax they would have a shiny new qb draft pick to bring as the carrot for the new fan base...as soon as they cut gabberts scrub behind

to me a trade out by jax makes a lot of sense...they could still get coples also if you believe all that buyer beware stuff that seems to be following him right now...or a melvin ingram or a michael floyd or a fletcher cox etc...

I don't understand why everyone is so ga-ga over Tannehill. I just looked at some of the tape of the Northwestern game, and he had a ton of overthrows, underthrows, and bailouts from his receivers, with a few good throws and a TON of screens, some of which got absolutely blown up because of poor throws. I'm telling you, if the Dolphins fail to land either Manning or Flynn, the 2012 season will be a lost cause.

I hear you. I will be first to admit I have a small sample, but the games I saw him play this season, Oklahoma and Texas, he looked pretty bad. Bad reads, poor throws, staring down receivers. Was not impressed, especially not for a top 10 pick. If folks can point me to some better games, I am listening. Just haven't been all that thrilled based on what I have seen. Like Weeden a lot more.

Weeden scares me, too. If you draft someone like Weeden, you draft him to be the starter from Day One. Anything less, and he's a bust, and you waste a pick on a 29-year-old who is no longer a man amongst boys.

I think he is ready to play and he comes at lower price, no? We need a starter. Most people agree that Tannehill needs a lot of time. Dolphins are locked in with Moore for the next few years. At least Weeden can come in and push for a starting job.
That being said, I like Moore, but are they realistically going to get very far with him at the helm? if Tannehill is the pick, they might as well start over. He isn't th QB to "get them over the hump," at least in the short run when everyone else is in their prime.
