Mike McD the OC. I’ve had my issues

MM is playing madden…. I don’t mean that facetiously.

I will refer to TikTok of his comedian buddy talking about them playing techmo bowl…. “Prime time. Prime time”
The only way you go for it there is if you KNOW the other guys cannot beat you and that you are going to score 70 before the game is over 😂

There’s no shame in changing positions because McD was a rookie play caller last season and took his lumps. Burning timeouts to avoid delay of games in the playoffs was especially frustrating.

Watch Tua’s post game presser from today. He talks on the second half about McD working in the off-season to get plays in much faster and (off memory) how that translates to more time for Tua to presnap process and the offense to run its motions.

McD is working at his craft like everyone on the team.
Didn’t MM say something today about how he can’t expect players to improve if he doesn’t work to improve himself?

Love the guy.

I’m not saying he did the right thing. I audibly groaned.

But that is what you do when playing madden, not the actual Denver Broncos. He’s playing Madden in Dolphins franchise mode.

It does feel that especially today
We went years and years where our WRs were always blanketed to death. And then you watched other offenses and saw WRs making plays all over the place and the nearest defender was 7 yards away
Thank god those days are over

The only blight on this game was the 3rd down sneak failure by Alec Ingold, followed by the horrible decision to go for it on 4th down inside your own 30 with a two-score lead. If the defense didn't stop the Broncos after that awful turnover on downs, it would have been a completely different ball game. Those kinds of foolhardy calls and monumentally unwise decisions cannot happen against good teams in this league. The game never really blew up until the defense generated turnovers.

hated the call tremendously and when we didn’t make it I was on the edge of my seat because that’s how games turn around.

However, I do curse him when he goes into moron mode like with that 4th and inches I think on our 37. Ugh.
I, for one, applaud him for his aggressiveness. I notice you didn't count the 4th down we did convert. Fans only hate going for it on 4th when it doesn't work. And if you're aggressive, sometimes it won't work. But that doesn't mean you should stop being aggressive.

Exactly. The whole "keeping receipts" thing is just so stupid. You can point out flaws without being a "hater." People do actually get better over time. I still think Noah can be a good CB; unfortunately, he won't be here if he does.

I am going to reply to this like EasyRider usually would:

"Who cares? This needed its own thread on the main page?"

Do you see how much of a dick move that is? MM is the best coach play caller we have had in a very long time.

Not just caller, the brilliance lays in the design and execution. **** me it's sexy

I was going to write this up tomorrow but @Mach2 called me out tonight.
Ok, let me clarify something first because there are smart posters and then there are other posters who can’t comprehend what they’re reading.

Last season I made it clear that I didn’t care for Coach McD as an OC. I didn’t or never said I was against him as a HC. I just didn’t believe in a HC with dual roles. He made a ****-load of mistakes as a HC last season but I expected that and as a fan you need to be patient with it. But as an OC I just felt he ran the same passing plays to death and totally ignored the running game, and I felt he didn’t adjust to what teams were doing. Which I think was valid. I made it clear I wasn’t a fan of his play-calling which of course lead to numerous arguments here. A lot of mistakes were made by lack of game planning.

Fast forward to today. To be honest I was impressed with his plays week 1 against the Chargers. Although I wanted some more run plays but I was going to wait until week 6 to make judgements on his OC role. Anyway, today was mind blowing, but I was really impressed with McD last week up in NE that really won me over. One thing we know about BB, he loves to take away teams strengths on offense and he did by limiting damage from Ty Hill. But McD knew it going in and his game plan was impeccable with running the ball to death along with his short passing game. Not only that but Coach was patient with it and never waived from it. It was mind blowing impressive, especially a week after being on the west coast and then having to travel North. Two weeks on the road flying west, south then north.

Anyway today, I don’t even know what to call today. It was supercilious! Not only that, he ran the ****ing rock down their throats today. Broncos were gassed.

I’m on the record now that McD has won me over as the best play caller in the NFL today. Yes, it helps when your GM provides you with track star weapons, but he’s calling the game to win no matter what it takes

However, I do curse him when he goes into moron mode like with that 4th and inches I think on our 37. Ugh.
Lol.... I didn't, exactly, call you out. I was curious if the start to the season had softened a fairly unwavering position.

This is 100% accurate IMO. We opened the Chargers game w 3 straight bombs that fell incomplete w nobody open. Last year’s offensive planning and game management were nowhere near where this offense is at now
So was Tua good in that game or not? Laughable people are blaming McDaniel for that loss

The really bad thing about that drive was Tua didn't throw it once. You got the hottest QB in football and don't throw it? That was kinda weird. Oh well, the other 95% of the game was steller.
