Mort and Adam: Philbin Wanted to Cut Incognito

...after the golf incident. However, because he was a so new to the job he was over ruled. Schefter connected Ross' overwhelming support of Philbin in his presser to Joe wanting to cut Incognito loose. Fill in the blank....Ireland wanted to keep Incognito.

If we'd cut Incognito we wouldn't be a circus right now but we'd still be mediocre and poorly coached. It's like saying someone's ugly because of a zit on their face. Turns out when it clears they're still ugly.

so he was overruled behind-the-scenes on Richie, but Chad & Vontae went to the woodshed on national tv - huh.

I think a report from Watts and the NFLPA need to be released before you can make assumptions about who stays and goes. I suspect that Marino will be hired as the Director of Football Ops. Where they go after that is anyone's guess.

Makes sense to me. Philbin got his way with two players, Ireland put his foot down with Incognito to prove he was in charge. I mean let's face it, you cut Incognito that early on and it would be like a signal flare on Ireland for ignoring the offensive line in the off season.

What really has to chap Philbin's ass is Incognito being elected to the leadership council. Disturbing to think there are that many morons in the locker room.

This really does seem to be setting up Philbin returning and Ireland leaving. Wouldn't even be surprised if the changes are minor and made from within, with Gaine becoming the new GM.

I agree. I have said this for awhile...Brian Gaine played at UMaine under Kirk Ferentz and Joe coached under Ferentz at Iowa. There is connection there.

I do not think this is the best move for the Fins, but I bet you are correct.

Our player personnel department has if anything been worse than our college scouting department.

Hopefully Ross is smart enough to realize this and goes outside the organization for a GM.

Less talent...apart from the Wallace and Grimes signing.
Dansby and Burnet are better than Ellerbee and Wheeler
The Oline in complete disarray. Depending on Martin..who flat out sucked last year. Waiting until all the quality RG/RT were gone in FA. Signing Clabo who Atlanta has sen enough. Yeatman? Still on this team?
Cutting Bush with no proven upgrade
Vintage Ireland at work. He does not finish what he starts. He has no vision of the completed team.
Agreed, apart from Wallace and Grimes I don't see the upgrades.
Plus, a few of the players that left are starters on teams going to the playoffs

There's always been too many chiefs and not enough indians, in this organization. We had the trifecta and every decision had to be agreed upon by 3 guys. They said if they didn't agree on drafting a guy, for example, they didn't do it. (Unless Parcells wanted it of course..ha ha). It was so muddled that you couldn't even tell who to fire and who was responsible. Now, it's better, but you still have Ireland and Philbin to have to agree on everything.

What I like is the old way...get a strong coach (and I don't think Philbin is that coach), who is a leader, who is smart, who has a vision, can be admired by and inspire his players, and who buys the groceries. That's it. One vision, one voice. A young Don Shula, like Ross originally wanted.

That's why I don't believe it at all. It's bunk.

Chad Johnson had 3 strikes..

Vontae got traded due to receiving an offer Miami couldn't refuse..

Also Hard Knocks is not national tv...

A young Shula would be a dream huh..

Chances of that happening are slim, don't need a Don, just close..
