Ireland sounds like they are going to be aggressive in FA afterall in this interview. It all depends if anyone becomes available. I like that he mentions that extending the current CBA for a while is also a possibility.

I also liked that he gives a few hints to being willing to go BPA or CJ Spiller if he is there. This could very well be helpful to us if we want to trade down. Which is obviously what Ireland is trying to set up with that statement.

If CJ Spiller is there, will Ireland take him and ship Brown? Or will he make calls and trade down a few slots for a Sean Weatherspoon or Earl Thomas or Dan Williams? Hmm. Looks like Ireland is positioning himself already...

He also doesn't sound ready to give up on Pat White or the Wildcat. Though, he mentioned that if you have Tom Brady at QB are you going to take him out? Implying the answer is no. What does that sound like regarding Henne and if he continues to improve? Pat White must be moving to WR/PR, I'm thinking...

It does sound as if Clemons is being groomed like Brandt said at FS, though it sounds like if he is taking a harder times digesting the position, similiar to Jason Allen when he was brought in.

Now I'm thinking that Wake is going to be one of our starting OLBs next season because he said they pretty much feel a bit more comfortable with him against the run now and we can now see a lot more of him going forward...

And I like that they feel Ginn Jr has a role and is going to be part of the WR corps next season. He has a role: deepthreat/KR.

Speaking of roles, they do think Jason Allen has a role too. The fact that he said we'll see how that role changes going forward makes me think that Jason Allen may compete with Clemons at FS after all. And of course, you guys have already heard that Brandt feels that Wilson is going to replace Bell at SS once he refuses to renegociate his $14mil roster bonus due him...

brown is a free agent isn't he, so we really can't ship him anywhere

The thing is that Clemons was getting PT not when All 3 players in front of him got hurt.

Allen was getting PT when Renaldo Hill, Cameron Worrell, and Chris Crocker got hurt. Clemons actually saw the field a lot as a FS

No. Brown has an option 6th year, which he recently said he will 'not' opt out of. if he 'did' he'd be an RFA with no CBA and an UFA if there 'is' a CBA. But Brown mention on the Ronnie Brown show that he is 'not' opting out and will stay his 6th season. Remember, he's smart, he's injured. He can be traded. Not saying he will. I love Brown. But he 'can' be...and even if he opted out he can be tendered under the RFA and be traded or franchise tagged as a UFA and be traded.

If the Collective Bargaining Agreement isn't resolved, then next season Brown will still be under contract for 2010. If they do work out a new CBA, he's a free agent, not sure if he'll be restricted or not.

Actually, Jason Allen saw a lot more PT at FS compared to Clemons. And Jason Allen actually had 3 INTS in during that PT and led the team that year if you recall.

Not saying that they 'will' move Allen to FS to compete with Clemons, but that they 'can'. I mean, they may just draft Earl Thomas and start him at FS with Clemons being the backup. Just saying, they will ponder all options it seems. He may just replace Jones, who is an UFA, as the fulltime NB. Remember, whenever Davis got hurt or was punished, the first CB off the bench was none other than Jason Allen. And he didn't impress you against PIT?

However it is, Allen was our STs ace and will be looked at by Ireland in an expanded role, it seemed like to me, CB or S.

For those of you who want Sparano fired, it's not going to happen this year or possibly any time while Parcells' and Ireland is around:
We’ve got a head coach that is a battleship commander. The guy is unbelievable. He’s able to do things that I’ve never seen other coaches do. He’s able to motivate these guys week in and week out.

Like I said, Allen got PT because 2 of the players in front of him got injured. He couldn't sniff the field when CAMERON WORRELL and Renaldo Hill was playing in front of him. I repeat, CAMERON WORRELL.

To add, as an option, if Brown were to be traded it would probably only be in a draft day deal. As in a deal for another pick if we decide to draft CJ Spiller. Though I think that the Spiller implication would be more to force a team to trade up and we keep Brown and trade down and add another pick or so and take a player like Weatherspoon, Thomas, or Williams. JMO.

And I repeat, look at how he performed. He led the team with 3 INTS. What's your point? He didn't sniff the field for the same reasons that Ireland gave that they hesitated with Clemons, they were struggling and slow to learn the position's plays etc.

He is a few years learned in the defense now. He's played CB for a couple years now and has looked good. The same reasons that kept Jason Allen from staying at FS is the same reasons Ireland gave for hesitating with Clemons.

Both Jason and Clemons are physical freaks and fast as dirt. But Allen is at CB because he has good hips, better than Clemons, which I read is a weakness of his.

I mean, with Jones an UFA, Allen probably becomes the fulltime NB. But they may feel Allen needs to start and give him a try at FS, "if" Clemons doesn't improve on this past season....just saying....

I think we take spiller and trade ronnie brown. spiller would be even better than ronnie brown running the wildcat. not only that, he would help in the passing game, he could catch 50 balls. then trade ronnie for a second, use it for defense. I think we should sign malcom floyd to help out at the wide reciever position. he is an up and coming guy with great skill, and has the skill sets we need, and wont break the bank. plus hes durable and a good locker room guy, unlike antonio bryant.

"This guy's gonna be the pillar of our Defense" – Jeff Ireland

Ireland is full of it.

well I really like Ireland and maybe I have been on the fire Sparano bandwagon but after taking time to cool down maybe I was wrong and I will wait and see how next season unfolds before I use the fire the coach card.

I am now leaning towards drafting ot tackle Russell Okung because he can replace Veron Carey or be rotated on the oline .

The problem is that Clemons didn't sniff the field due to having a 27.5 million free agent who was just signed that year. When the last straw hit, Clemons actually started the entire half of the Pitt game.

I hope you know interceptions is not the defying point of FS. It was told time after time Allen's communication sucked as a FS and they had to switch the field general from Allen to the LB corp since he could barely line up the players.
