But there are upgrades out there that could still do it justice while "updating" it.. Yet everyone seems to be hellbent against it..

The fact of the matter is that our current logo is the only one which no longer fits in with the rest of the league.. Its more akin to an NBA logo than a modern NFL logo.. I personally think that taking the helmet off the Dolphin would fix that problem.. Dolphins have the only animal logo that anthromorphises the animal and puts football equipment on it..

No longer fits? Brutha, it's fit perfectly for 40 years.

Take the helmet off? Yeah lets replace it with a hockey puck? :D

It's a logo that explains the organization to a tee. A Dolphin, a football helmet with the M, and the sun ring. Perfect idea. Absolutely perfect. Now if they want to go back to the way it was thats fine...........

I don't know...

That look spretty dated to me, and even though the same overall concept is there in our current logo, it is quite a bit different. I don't see how a similar update to the one done in 1997 would be that big of a deal.

Now that picture fits to a tee. Nice use of photoshop. I say send that one in to the New Times Rag.

I don't think the problem is that the Dolphin has football equipment... because it is a cool concept. The problem is that it is a completely realistic Dolphin just looking dopey with a helmet strapped to its head, like a poodle in a santa hat on a christmas card. Either it needs to go ALL animal... or become more humanesque like the Finheaven logo, and then the football equipment wouldn't seem out of place.

Making a Dolphin more manly. The FH logo fits fine here. No way do I wanna see a more human looking Dolphin because that means it's going to be even more like a cartoon.

The Seahawks are a football team, seahawk doesnt wear a helmet
The Bills are a football team, Buffalo doesnt wear a helmet
The Eagles are a football team, Eagle doesnt wear a helmet
The Falcons are a football team, Falcon doesnt wear a helmet
The Cardinals are a football team, Cardinal doesnt wear a helmet.
The Broncos are a football team, Bronco doesnt wear a helmet.
The Lions are a football team, Lion doesnt wear a helmet.
The Panthers are a football team, Panther doesnt wear a helmet.
The Jaguars are a football team, Jaguar doesnt wear a helmet.
The Rams are a football team, Ram doesnt wear a helmet.
The Dolphins are a football team, Dolphin DOES wear a helmet..

Which is not like the other?

So what?

The Helmet means football, and there's nothing wrong with it.

Most leagues try to keep their designs consistent with the others.. If it were ever to get dated, it would change to the "new" style.. The logo you presented, while good, just doesnt fit in with the NFL style of design.

Most leagues? You mean most football leagues? I dont think so. More like one team goes bankrupt, then moves, then starts out with something new.

Most leagues wish they could have that Dolphin on their helmet for 40 years. The GB on the helmet forever. That would mean they made money all that time.

Huh? Look at the NBA logos.. most of them look like they are from the same league.. same with NHL.. same with MLB.. same with NFL, for the most part.

Yeah the Bulls logo is in the same mold of that Knicks logo. Sorry man, but even if it's so, I don't buy that the NFL follows, or should follow suit.

The logos in the NFL are all so different from one another its not even funny.

Notice there are themes and trends.. The "animal" themes are somewhat consistant.. as are the classic "lettered" themes..

Im sorry, but the Dolphins logo IS the most cartoonish logo now in existence among NFL logos.. Whether you like it or not is another story, but it is irrefutably still the least "proffesional" looking as far as NFL logos go..

No, this is your opinion, and not the majority opinion either. A lot might want change, but not because it's the only cartoon left in the NFL.

The Cardinal looks nothing close to the same style as the Falcon, the Raven, or the Eagle. None of them are remotely close in style.

The Dolphin is the only Fish logo in the entire league. Naturally it's going to be somewhat different.

How is it that the Bills logo is not cartoonish? I mean your talking about a dark brown animal that is red and blue!

Your going to tell me that the new Pats logo does not resemble a patriotic super hero. Super heros are cartoons, and even if you disagree with that, there is no way you can tell me that it is consistent with anything. It resembles nothing real, but yet it's a person. Just like a person in a cartoon would.

There are only two, maybe three logos that are not cartoonish (lettered logos not included). The Redskins logo, and the Cardinal and possibly the Panther.

If there are some comparisons it would be that the lion and the buffalo looks similar in theme. But guess what? The Raven, the Bronco, and the Dolphin look similar in theme.
