NFL.com: McCoy is the future of the NFL

he won 6 in a row and went to the 2nd round of the playoffs with a guy most pundits around the league projected as a FB as his starting QB
who did he beat?

Miami - wow
Oakland - meh
KC - only thing KC did this season was beat the packers
Jets - made me happy but we beat them so meh
Chargers - meh
vikes - more meh close to less than meh
bears - Meh

he also helped them to a 3 game losing streak in the end unless he wasnt OCing them those games...and a previous 3 game losing streak in the beginning off the season...

I have my reservations with McCoy. I'm sorry, his credentials don't impress me even though I hope I'm wrong about him. The truth of he matter, and what I find extremely amusing, is no matter who we signed, a certain contingent of fans would rationalize and justify why it was an excellent hire.

We could sign Yakov Smirnoff as our next coach and certain fans would find any morsel to justify why he's going to be the next big thing. It amuses me

Bucky Brooks must be on Stephen Ross' payroll.

And an even larger percentage of the fans on FH will have a problem with the hire and complain that the hire is awful. Truth of the matter is that no one on this site really knows all that much about this guy or really any of the guys being interviewed.

No one really does know anything about McCoy but 'their' guy is and always will be better than anyone the Dolphins may hire.

Guys, this is what we are down to. We don't have a choice. I never rallied for Henne, but I did for Moore. I never rallied for Tony, but I will for whoever is picked. You don't have to like what we get, but I'll give it a shot.

Well you can say they are negative but I can just as easily note that they were not being negative but were being correct in their assessment. If we have had garbage the last decade and we have called it garbage from the beginning, are we just negative nellies or were we just correct the whole time. Compare that with the group who lauds every hire and ended up being wrong. Now who would you argue is more of the realist?

You never know how things will turn out but that doesn't preclude you from having an opinion based on what information you have. There's that chance that nick foles may become a pro bowl qb but that possibility doesn't prevent me from rationally criticizing the choice if we draft him at nine

I just want a coach that can win without a bunch of gimmicky **** that will only work for a year or so. I knew that Wildcat was nice but I also realized it was coming to an end shortly after its dominance.. I'll be disappointed if McCoy's offense is a load of trick plays. Then again he did work with Delhomme and he wasn't exactly Tebow's build..

The thing is, nobody really knows with the choices we're left with. They all have flaws, so it becomes a gut feeling. Now you can be pissed off with the hire because your gut told you otherwise, or you can just try and give it time and focuss of the few positives you might find... Basically, you can be pissed off all you want, it aint gonna change anything, I'd rather hope for the best and not be pissed off... but thats just me...

Well if you like John Fox and would hire him and you like Dan Henning and would hire him then I think McCoy makes sense. 10 of his 12 seasons in the NFL were spent on John Fox's staff and from 2002-2006 he was on the same offensive staff as Dan Henning most recently as his QB coach...and we all know how good Henning was at developing QBs. Those two would be McCoy's greatest influences as a coach.

Wildcat, zone option read...all a fad in the NFL. I'm looking forward to what he does with the Dolphins...I can't lose here...he's Ireland's pick if he fails Ireland fails and is gone. If he wins well then we got a coach.

You did not read the article carefully. Innovation, adjustment, and altering philosophy does not agree with being locked into the Fox and Henning system. I am not concerned by His time with Fox and Henning.

an 8-8 team that was lucky to even make the playoffs

25th in points scored
23rd in total yards
31st in passing yards...bring that juggernaut offense to Miami

Do you honestly think Denver would've had those rankings if Tebow never played? You know for a fact Tebow held the offensive numbers down b/c of his limited throwing skills. Hell, my WIFE knows that

in chudz case, this article is spot on.

in mccoys case, couldnt be more WRONG!!!

sorry, but, " ok, our qb cant hit a blind quadraplegic in a wheel chair. lets let him drop back, look left, then right and then run like forrest gump after a bowl of rancid gumbo to the outhouse isnt inovative offense.

thats not inovation. thats not teaching. they had no choice. and everything tebow did he was doing in college, NOTHING different.

mike mccoy didnt develope tim tebows running abilities, its natural god given talent. its what he does. its ALL he does. mcoy had no choice. heck, david lee was the wiz mind for the collegiet wildcat offense. when the coaches came to him and said, hey, were in trouble here, what can we do? any ideas? he brought up his wildcat and tailored it to the finz and gave ronnie brown the only stand out year he ever had. and a fluke playoff appearance. THATS smarts and inovation. so if thats what the irelands are looking for, heck, hire david lee!!

when CHUDZ was at clevland, HE coached up derek anderson, brought out abilities and technique that was missing in his game. in carolina, you can argue that newton is a phenom athlete, and he is, loads of god given talent. but when you take his college system and adapt it to an nfl squad who faces nfl defenses and succeeds, THAT is great, and there has to be great coaching involved.

McCOYS success will depend on one thing and thats the coordinators he has to surround him. and from what we are hearing, jeff ireland will be picking them [probably already has]. what will the offensive philosophy be? west coast? run n shoot? air coryell? ground and pound? it does mean sometnhing, it is important or you will have to change systms like socks! what will tey do in denver when tebow goes down? they dont have a second string tebow to run the offense.

if todd bowles is forced to be his DC, kiss it goodbye as todd has had 3 teams to coach up secondaries and failed MISERABLY, bottom portion of the nfl every year, every team he has coached for. and he is going to show up mike nolan? ya know whats wierd? there are actually some fanz who believe that.

like i said, maybe mccoy is the next bill cowher, but the things people are bringing out as to why he deserves the job are BUNK!! unfounded and misled. is he a LEADER OF MEN"? good! you have to have that traight, and i could stomach this and accept it more if they would just say that, that he is a strong leader, gets respect. but all this tim tebow, brilliantly having tebow run down the field, his blinding inovative prowess in using tim tebows college system [tim running all over the field and only throwing IF absolutely nessecary] is rediculous. that i cant handle if they really are hiring him under that perception.

Didn't you know McCoy handcuffed Tebow???? Enough of the sarcasm.

McCoy worked with the worst passer in the game. 46%? Even Blaine Gabbert hit 50%.

He sucked with Orton who is just like Moore...

oh? how EXACTLY does moore suck like orton?

in DETAIL, not a bunch of "i thinks".
