NFL Rumors: Miami Dolphins not expected to name Dion Jordan a starter in 2014

It's a sign of strength in our starting DE's instead of weakness in Jordan. He is Won't replacement when Wake leaves us. Having Jordan makes us deep and that's good.

Exactly, Jordan not being an every down starter shows just how deep we are at defensive end. Wake and Vernon combined for 20 sacks this past season and Jordan as third pass rusher only makes our defensive line all that more dangerous. If Jordan makes a Vernon like jump in year two, we might end up having one of the best trios of pass rushers in the league.

Why not move him to OLB and replace Wheeler...he cant possbilby be worse...he would have to sit indian style in the middle of the field to be a worse player than wheeler.

LMAO at this "article"

Yes...Jordan wont be a starter in 2014. Why of course, his off season training regiment and diet has already been a failure!

Oh wait, only like...2 weeks into the off season.

:bobdole: Fail....fail...McFail

They're not going to give him the job, especially not after the season Vernon had. If he wants to start he's going to have to earn it and take it away from Vernon.

Jordan should be a starter, the guy is a damn play-maker!

Philbin get your head out of your ass and let the kid make some damn plays!

Seriously. I don't get it at all. So if we assume its true they don't want him to take away snaps from Misi, why not let him take them from Wheeler? He blows hard, yet why couldn't he do what we brought in wheeler to do, blitz and cover? Or let Misi play Wheeler's spot. Just get Jordon on the field, damn.

He had a lower percentage of sacks per rush than Vernon or Wake. How many plays did he make that makes you think he's a playmaker?

This bothers me, greatly.

First off, who the hell is Josh Hill to make this statement?

Secondly, it's February 10th... kinda early to be declaring impact players for the 2014 season, isn't it?

Lastly, Dion Jordan knows he needs to improve to become the player he knows he can be in this league. As long as he stays motivated and is capable of tuning out rubbish like this, he'll be just fine.

Exactly, what do they think happens if Jordan comes in, and starts playing out of his mind?

If Anything, he might not start on the D-line, well at least not in the beginning of the season (Wake is still a weapon, and Vernon is looking like a keeper), but having him start at LB would allow you to have multiple Quality pass-rusher coming from all directions. If I'm Wheeler, I would be very nervous and working my butt off this off-season.

Miami should pay this guy since he saved the coaching staff the trouble of naming starters and it's only February! Hire him!

Not buying into the article, but all I'll say about dion is he's too good amd too special of a player to try and stick at a position and label him a DE or LBer. Let dion be dion, the incredibly tall, agile, fast player who gpcan blitz from multiple positions and cover TEs, cover RBS, and even cover WRS, drop into zone, or contain.

If our staff forces him into a damn position instead of just letting him be the guy he was drafted to be, than Ill completely give up on the entire staff. Im not sure you could do anything dumber than demand he bulks up so he can stop the run. If that's your plan, you wasted a draft pick.
thats fine, they didnt force him to do anything last year since they didnt play him, that is a problem for a #3 overall...

Well I do think the shoulder was much worse than they lead on, and I think that was a big part of his lack of play.

But all this talk about him being forced to gain weight and being a DE is terrible news for someone like me and was hyped to see him used in a much more creative way.

Locking Dion Jordan down to being a DE full time would be like locking down Percy Harvin to just the right/outside WR spot. You put him all over the damn place, and let his total skill set flourish, you don't try to turn him into Marvin Harrison.

This guy is incredibly versatile, hopefully were not stupid enough to waste that ability.

Boom! I still recall the play again the stealers where he lined up @ DT, dropped into the flat, & fecked up an RB screen.

pretty much...and he wont earn it in the preseason next year barring injury...they dont think he's stout enough at the poa to play every down and i would agree with that...makes sense to me to make him a situational rusher and package player and to develop his edge pass rush...if that doesnt come on this pick will never be validated in the top 5 anyways...

still if he plays only situationally next year while he gains weight and gives you say 8 plus sacks in the role i would be satisfied...provided he shows arsenal in his pass rush and not the same old stuff...double digit sacks no one will complain about his snaps...
