NFLPA tells Pouncey a suspension is not likely/Fins plan to pick up 5th year option

Right now, Pouncey is scheduled to hit the final year (2014) of his fully guaranteed $9.259 million rookie deal. That deal will pay Pouncey $1.63 million in 2014. But the Dolphins are able to pick up an option year on Pouncey in May that would tie him to the team for a fifth year through 2015.

The Dolphins fully intend to pick up that option, according to a club source.

The key short-term issue is waiting on NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to see if he hands down any disciplinary action against Pouncey -- not to mention Jerry and Incognito -- to determine if the only remaining starting offensive lineman on the Dolphins roster will have to serve a suspension.

On that issue, Pouncey has heard unofficially from the NFL Players Association that he is not likely to get suspended, according to a source. But, of course, the NFLPA doesn't determine whether there is or isn't a suspension from the league.

Meh, I prefer good players who are also leaders, unlike Pouncey. Wouldn't hurt if they weren't caught up in drugs, guns, and associating with gangsters either.
 
Sign him up.. Worst thing, he's out a couple games.. Hopefully no games tho..
 
Glad to hear. Now we just need to move past this nightmare, and this unit can focus on being a legit line. Hopefully Pouncey can learn from this and become a real leader of our team.

Couldn't care less about the weed. It's the harder stuff that concerns me. But yes, he hasn't been caught yet and it's all just "rumors." The rumors never seem to stop, but I'm sure there's nothing to that. Never is. Hell, I get grand jury subpoenas for random stuff all the time that I have nothing to do with.
 
good news if true. pick up the option and get him signed to a long term deal way before it ends.

It is complete BS if the NFL nails him for any games. Plus, it seems like the union is ready to fight if he does.
 
Can you imagine how much different our line will look with a few FA acquisitions and a draft pick or two? Drastic difference. Shame on all the posters who want Pouncey gone. He is all we have at this point & hes a hell of a player. We got rid of the top two OL cancers in the locker room, lets take that 5th year n see if Pouncey can turn his behavior around with a different supporting cast.

Fair post! I think the key is a better supporting cast. Not just in quality of play, but quality of character. You can only hope Pouncey learns from this and grows up a bit.
 
Keeping him at his 2014 and 2015 salary is an easy decision. The long term extension is the big question. I guarantee he is on his best behavior the next two years. He knows how much $$$ is at stake.
