NFLPA tells Pouncey a suspension is not likely/Fins plan to pick up 5th year option

when you give up 58 sacks and have zero running game it's hard to say anyone on the o-line is that great. Let's see what he brings this year. I personally feel as of right now he's a little overrated

What would be smart is trading him now while he still has trade value instead of waiting until something does stick so the league can nail us with sanctions.

Yes please. He's a great actor when he wants to be, when he knows people are watching, but one of these days he's going to do something really stupid and end up in serious trouble, and I hope he's on another team by then.

Couldn't care less about the weed. It's the harder stuff that concerns me. But yes, he hasn't been caught yet and it's all just "rumors." The rumors never seem to stop, but I'm sure there's nothing to that. Never is. Hell, I get grand jury subpoenas for random stuff all the time that I have nothing to do with.
So does a grand jury subpoena mean you are guilty?

We see men released from prison regularly who weren't guilt of the crimes they were convicted of.

I'm just starting to wonder if Pouncy even wants to stay with the team. I'm sure he'd probably say he wants to stay but with so much going on he migt ot want to stay. Has anybody else thought about that? I'm not sure what to think of him at this point. The drugs use bothers me. That can bring a whole organization down. What went on with Martin doesn't bother me. Martin was just not right in his head. I think we should keep him at this point but wth a very short leash.

Ozzy rules!!

Meh, I prefer good players who are also leaders, unlike Pouncey. Wouldn't hurt if they weren't caught up in drugs, guns, and associating with gangsters either.

Of course we all want leaders with high character, but I also don't want to be 4-12 every year

Meh...I could take Pouncey, or leave him.
Proven, or not, he is trouble.
Having him as a member of the team might not be devastating, but he seems to be in a semi-leadership role and that's not good.

I get all that, he got a subpoena for him being a close friend to Hernandez.

A buddy of mine was issued a subpoena, one of his friends was involved in drug runs that ended in a dirty crime. He had nothing to do with it, but was needs as a witness.

Keep downplaying it, it's much easier that way. "Where there's smoke, there's fire," "the company you keep," etc. You want to convince yourself that he's a standup guy who just happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time ALL the time? Whatever makes you feel better.

Look, I'm under no illusion that he's going anywhere. I know we are stuck with his dumbass for at least another year due to the state of the line (thanks Ireland). You know that. I know that. The team know that. And most of all, Pouncey knows that. But let's not pretend like he's just some poor innocent guy that keeps getting pulled into all the the bad bull**** that happens on this team. His name is listed EVERY time. I'm just going to pray he keeps being damn good at not getting caught red-handed until he leaves (and goes to NE, which is when everyone here that has been blindly supporting him will suddenly be ripping NE for signing someone known for his association with drugs, guns, associating with gangsters, and sexually and/or racially harassing coworkers.

Fine, you guys convinced me. He hasn't been found "guilty" of anything, so the guy is obviously a saint. Until he goes to New England, of course. Then he's a criminal and an asshole.

I'm sure you've seen people in prison who were convicted of minor charges that you know are guilty of far greater ones as well. Not to mention all those that are never arrested or convicted of anything, yet still commit crimes. Or is our justice system so bad ass that literally everybody is caught for EVERY crime?

I really don't see what him not being found guilty of anything has to do with my original comment. He is still associated with drugs, guns, and gangsters. But keep convincing yourselves he's a stand up guy. So long as he's wearing Aqua and Orange, of course.

Nobody is trying to convince themselves he's a stand up guy.

Just because he has some drugs in his house doesn't equal horrible person, yeah his involvement with Hernandez is a red flag but just because you have a dumbass friend doesn't make you a dumbass. Until he is found gulity of running illegal guns or drugs he's not a person people need to worry about.

Also if the guns are legal then him having guns is no big deal.

I don't think he needs to be found guilty for a team to be wary of him (that's a strange point of view, since when he's found guilty of something serious, it's too late anyway), but I think Pouncey deserves a year to show he's not a degenerate. Let him ride this last year out and if he's a good citizen (no arrests, no new subpoenas for grand juries, no ridiculous stories) then extend him. I think he's smart enough to avoid serious trouble for now. I don't think any of his sins outweigh how good he is enough to let him go.

Damn, bro ... I didn't know Pouncey poured sugar in your gas tank while anally violating the corpse of your great grandmother.

Seriously, though - Does everybody have to be a choir boy? It'd be nice if he were a model citizen, but there's only so many Tim Tebow's in the NFL today ... Oh, wait ... :chuckle:

I disagree, he's someone you really need to worry about. There's rumors about him and his brother and Hernandez being really close back in college and basically enabling Hernandez to live his thug life, he wanted Hernandez "freed" while he's charged with murder, Martin and Incog basically referred to him as providing hard drugs for teammates (not talking about weed, martin said he was high, and then he said the **** he did at Pouncey's was crazy, in the same string of texts), but he hides it well. He's always smiling and well-spoken in interviews(I liked him at first because of his interviews), says the right things, seems like a great guy when he's talking. But his actions and his words don't match up at all. Remember how in the Well's report he denies his own involvement in the whole thing? Even though he was apparently one of the main offenders? (sounds to me like he was probably a huge part of why Incognito could act like a complete ******** all the time without consequences, just like with Hernandez and his dumbass thug life in college)

Let him play for cheap under his rookie contract.

If he ****s up in the slightest bit, then you simply don't extend him.

If he plays at the Pro Bowl level Center that he is capable of without trouble, then hell yeah you lock him down.
