Basketball is finally here. Some thoughts on the first preseason game.

Even though the Magic are terrible, I thought it was a solid performance considering our best player didn't play, and we have a lot of new faces.

Offense was pretty solid even with Turner, Young, Richardson and Hawes having abysmal games, and no Bynum. Still not getting to the FT line enough though. Defense didn't look that good though, particularly against the Magic bigs that got anything they wanted and Vuc/Davis killed us on the boards. Obviously we'll be a lot better at both with Bynum, but this team has to adjust to life without Iguodala on the perimeter, though I think we did a solid job defending the perimeter.

Holiday looked dominant. Turner was the complete opposite, complete abortion out on the court. Hawes was his usual self. Great passer, inconsistent jumpshooter, sucks at everything else. Having him at PF worries me. Richardson sucked on both ends of the floor. However, Nick Young and Dorrell Wright made up for the terrible performances of the starting wings. Both were terrific. Thad Young had a terrible game as well which is uncommon for him since he's usually a very efficient scorer. Lavoy Allen, per the usual was the only big capable of rebounding and playing defense. Looking forward to Bynum coming back so we see as little Kwame Brown as possible.

Maalik Wayns looked really good. I think he makes the roster as the backup PG, pushing Ivey to the reserves, or even off the team altogether. And I think Vucevic is going to be a nice player for the Magic. A 10 point 10 rebound type of guy. No idea why we stopped giving him burn last year. Wish they would've played Moultrie more.

I only got to see the first half of this game, but I saw all that I needed to.

This offense can be fun to watch, especially once Bynum gets into the mix. Jrue was just masterful. 27 points and a great shooting percentage to go along with that. On the other hand, Turner was awful tonight. His performances will improve, obviously, but I'll chalk this up to playing with many new faces in an actual game. What I'm curious in terms of Turner when the regular season starts is how he will do against a team's top scorer. He's a good defender, but nothing like Iggy.

I think Hawes slow feet are going to cause problems for him at the 4. I think he can be decent at the 4 on offense, but defense is what concerns me. I like the depth that Nick Young and Wright give this team. I see Nick Young being a much better version of Lou Williams, like I said earlier in the summer. Wright is a very versatile player that I think can play the 2 or three.

I didn't get to see any of Wayns tonight, but from all that I've been reading from the training camp reports, he has been one of the standouts.

I forgot to mention one thing, isn't it great to have Sixers basketball back?

Couldn't find a stream to this game so can't really comment. From looking at the box scores though, Maalik Wayns impressed again.

I couldn't find one either. From the play by play I was reading, Nick Young had a good game. He ended up with 21 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists. I have to say, I'm so happy that we have him instead of Lou Williams. I think their next game will be on TV, so I won't have to deal with the ****ty quality streams.

Another impressive performance from Maalik Wayns, 8 assists only 2 turnovers. 3 great performances in 3 games, I'd be shocked if he doesn't make the roster. Another good performance for Nick Young as well. Turner finally showed something. Dorrell Wright didn't shoot the ball great, but was really impressed with his overall play. He led the team with +/- of +30 as well. Hawes looked much better coming off the bench playing Center. The defense looked good as well.

All I'm going to say is, once this team gets Bynum back, they will be a fun team to watch. Wayns should be the backup PG. I have really liked what I've seen out of him.

I'm really surprised by how well the team has played without Bynum. It's only been 3 preseason games, but has to make you feel good about the potential of the team when he's back for the regular season.

I think with a full training camp and regular practice, Jrue looks like the biggest benefactor. This team has a few great shooters, and besides having Bynum in the middle, the thing I like most about this team is how they can go 9-10 deep and not lose much production on the court.

Maalik Wayns looking like a terrific find at this point. All he does is impress every game. Just another dominate performance by the team without Bynum. Nick Young with another great performance. Dorrell Wright looked great as well. Holiday and Turner better step it up or these guys are going to take their jobs.

I don't like how this team is still so reliant on jump shooting, but we can shoot the ball much better than last year with the new editions. This team is going to look very similar to the Magic with Dwight. A dominant force inside, live or die by the 3 on the outside. With defense being the biggest priority.

Either way, it's only preseason I know, but definitely has me even more excited about the season than I was before.

Wayns has been the nicest surprise on this team. At this point, I see no reason why he wouldn't be the backup PG come opening night.

I don't think there's much of a threat of Holiday or Turner losing their jobs. As Collins will look for a starting group that will gel, I can easily see Young start at the 2 and Turner at the 3, or Turner at the 2 and Wright at the 3. There's lots of versatility on this team.

The one thing I didn't like about tonight was the big increase in turnovers in the second half. I'm sure it will be fixed, but there wasn't much wrong done by this team tonight.

I get the Magic comparison, but I think this team has better perimeter players. I just think we have more athletes on this team than the Dwight Howard Magic did.

Like I said, Turner better watch it because Wright is gunning for his job. To be honest, I think Turner would be better off the bench but his fragile ego and confidence issues won't allow it. I have no idea what happened to the money mid range shot he had at OSU, but he won't do much scoring wise until he finds it.

This team has a great scoring pop off the bench. Thad Young, Nick Young, and Wright give consistent scoring, and Hawes has looked pretty good off the bench in the preseason.
