Official 76ers Thread

Maalk Wayns suffered a head contusion. Hopefully he'll be alright.
I was wondering when I looked at the box scores why he only played a little over 5 minutes. I do find it funny that the Knicks played most of the starters, and the Sixers mainly played 8 guys and still beat them by 8.

And it wasn't really that close a game either. Sixers ran away in the 2nd and they caught up in the 3rd, but the Sixers quickly pulled away again at the beginning of the 4th. Preseason finally over though. Excited to finally watch some real games with our best player. Of course I leave for Army BCT November 6th so I'll only get to see 3 games, but those 3 games will be against Iguodala and 2 vs. the Knicks.

I can't wait for the regular season either. Even if Bynum can't play in the first few games, I think this team is much better equipped to handle it.

How long will the Army BCT take?

Funny thing is (and this has probably already been talked about) but the 6ers have a much more rounded roster now. The previous roster just had too many guys that needed the ball in their hands to be successful; Jrue, Turner, Iggy, Brand, Lou Williams, Thad Young. You didn't really have anybody that could just catch and shoot with consistency (Meeks could but wasn't consistent, Lou was better with the ball). Thad at least can play off the ball a bit.

Obviously Bynum was a huge pickup, but JRich, Young, and Wright are all underrated additions and add guys who can spot up and hit 3's

Agreed. 76ers shot more jumpshots than pretty much every other team in the league last year. That won't change much this year, but now we have guys who can actually hit those jumpshots.

I agree. If Bynum has to miss the first few games, this team can definitely handle it. They have many more consistent shooters that don't always need the ball in their hands.

NBA League Pass has a free preview from October 30th to November 6th. That's 3 free 76ers games.
That's nice. I'm going to use that to watch the other games around the league. I have Comcast SportsNet Philly, so I'll get most of the Sixers games. They usually carry around 75 games a year.

With the season opener tomorrow, lets get some predictions for our Sixers.

I have them going 47-35 getting a 4-6 seed in the East. This team right now without Bynum is better than the team they had last year imo. It's better that they're keeping Bynum out now so he's healthy later in the season and for the playoffs. I think it should be a fun year to watch the Sixers.

What do you guys think?

My prediction is pretty much exactly the same as yours. I also agree about Bynum. The first few weeks of our season the schedule is looking very favorable, so getting all his shots done and getting 100% now is the best thing to do.

Well, it wasn't pretty, but a win is still a win.

I think we shot way too many threes in this game, and we didn't shoot the ball very well in general. It will get better, but at least we got a win to start the season.

By the way, Spencer Hawes=MVP

Spencer Hawes rocking the mullet > Hakeem the Dream in his prime

Way too many threes though. Especially when we were up double digits, those were pretty much the only shots we jacked up. On the positive side though, no Iguodala or Bynum, and I'd say we're still an elite defensive team. I'd actually be pretty shocked if Michael Curry doesn't get a lot of head coach consideration during the offseason.
