not a fan of the syracuse pg the 6ers picked up...as for the trade have to give up a high end asset to get one...and jrue is probably the only one on the roster that could command a high return...god knows evan turners not gonna do it...

i didn't even watch the 6ers this year did the 2nd round pick pf type from the year prior develop at all??? i liked what i saw of that kid in the postseason against the c's...can't remember his name though...

I'm going to wait and see with Carter-Williams. He seems to have a nice overall game, but the one glaring deficiency is that jump shot of his. Over time I would like to hope it would improve. I'll be honest, when I first learned of the trade, I couldn't believe it. Even though it might not give much in return, I wouldn't be surprised if the Sixers traded Turner. It's pretty obvious that they are setting themselves up for next year's draft/free agency.

You're thinking of Lavoy Allen, and he did anything but develop, regressed if anything. The coaching did have something to with that when Collins would play him one game and sit him the next, but that's a whole other story. He would show flashes at time, but he was nowhere the player that went up against the Celtics a couple years ago.

The overall game is garbage. He was drafted because all the tools are there, and he could potentially be a hell of a player if he ever puts is all together. He didn't look very good at Syracuse.....can't hit a jumper, can't finish inside, turns it over a lot. But you look at him and the shooting motion looks great, hes a big kid that can jump out of the gym, and he can throw some beautiful passes.

i hope boston is tanking for a top 3 pick also in next years draft...bill simmons complaining about what boston got in return no guaranteed lotto picks for pierce garnett and rivers makes no sense to me...it's not like those players had any real high end value anyways...and who knows by 2016 or at least 2018 the nets core will be pretty old barring changes and we could well get a high lotto pick out of it...provided those 1's aren't protected...

it was time for boston to move on and rebuild...hell it was time last offseason

I have no doubts Boston has entered themselves into the Wiggins sweepstakes.

He was anything but "not very good" at Syracuse.

That being said, as a prospect, he fills a certain role. That role is to pass the ball and defend. He's very good at both, though we'll see how his defense transitions considering Syracuse plays zone. His knack for steals should translate. He's not a scorer. He'll never be a scorer. Has a terrible jumper. Him and Turner in the same backcourt is a disaster, but I expect Turner to be traded. The hope is for him to become a 6'6" version of Rondo or a poor mans Kidd. Or at least Rubio. But there's a very real chance he just ends up as Shaun Livingston. Either way, Rondo/Rubio is the role he'll be expected to play. Run the offense. Look for the pass. Pick and Roll game with Noel and Thad. Crash the boards and start the breaks. I definitely think he can succeed in the NBA playing that role.

With his athleticism and size, the potential is there. For the 11th pick in a weak draft, it was probably the right pick.

i'm with ferret on the 6ers pg pick..all height and athletic ability but little polish and if you can't hit a 15 footer what's the real value if you can't finish off the dribble either??? anyways...

i hear that 2014 draft is like 5-7 deep with all stars...this must be one hell of a college in coming freshman crop...bout time we had some high end talents in the college game...

i'm all for boston doing whatever they can to to get as many new high end talent blood in the building...even if it means trading rondo for less than market value...he couldn't even get along with a players coach like doc rivers...get rid of him

All I know is that there are a lot a Syracuse people who started wondering if the team would be better without the ball in his hands. He shut them up for a little while but sometimes it was just ugly as hell. I'm not going to pretend to know what hes going to be as a pro.....I've seen guys with far uglier jump shots transform themselves into elite shooters. But right now hes a long ways from even being a point guard in the NBA.

He was considered by many the best pg in the nation. He didn't get the recognition from casual fans because he didn't put up the sexy ppg numbers that Trey Burke put up, but nobody can deny the impact he had on both ends of the floor on a final 4 team. Led the nation in assists and steals. 3rd in apg, 4th in spg.

He's the best true pg prospect in the draft. True PGs are becoming a bit of a dying breed unfortunately, but for teams that utilize them like Philly plans to do, he can become a very solid pro.

As for his jumper, his form is pretty solid. If Turner can improve his shot the way he did last season with his broke jumper, MCW can too. But he doesn't have to in order to be a good player. Pass and defend is his role.

Aside from you (after the draft), who on earth had this opinion? There were a few games where he looked pretty awesome, but when he was off it was really ugly. And whether they be casual or not, a lot of Syracuse fans are more than happy to see him gone even if they don't have player to replace him.

People who actually watch college basketball and watched him lead Syracuse to the final 4 while leading the nation in assists and steals. I put Larkin and Burke in front of him personally. Too many bad shooting nights for my liking to be considered the best. Maybe Wolters and Smart. Either way, none of this has anything to do with the fact he's still the best passer and defender out of all of them. As far as physical gifts go, he's the best prospect. As an overall prospect, I like Burke, Larkin, and Smart better. Maybe Dennis Schroeder. But that may just be me hoping to see another great German player in the league.

syracuse played pretty much all zone we'll see what kind of on ball man defender he is...although i won't disagree that he's got good tools for it with the length etc

6ers basically said "We know we're an 8th seed at best, the Bynum trade screwed us. Let's just accept that and rebuild right away." Noel has a lot of potential. People just expected him to be Anthony Davis or DeMarcus Cousins as a Freshmen and he wasn't. But MCW and Noel are 2 okay pieces and they potentially have 2 lotto picks in an insanely deep draft (though with the moves the Pelicans have made, that may no longer be the case)
