Olbermann: Dolphins facing Saints like punishment

Is this actually a concern, or is it just some reporter on ESPN spouting rumors without backing to get ratings? Is anybody else reporting this?

So let me get this straight. A player on this team is allegedly asked to "toughen" up another player. That player takes it upon himself to go too far with this request. The player being harasser says nothing to anyone, not a teammate, not a coach or the GM. Then through some sort of prank feels he can't take it anymore and quits on his team instead of facing it like a man, and the penalty is allegedly similar to a bounty paying players for injuring others. Sorry, I don't buy it. Not a single player has admitted knowledge of anything prior to Sunday nor has any coach, they can't ALL be lying.

Its not even a punishment with Ireland making the picks really, it just frees up a little more cap space for him.

easyb to have cap space when few of your draft picks are worth resigning

Coaches can't tell players to toughen up... next thing you know they will need to have milk and cookie breaks during practice or have to tell players to not hit the other players too hard.. Oh, wait.. they already have..
To think a month ago it looked like a promising season...
.. went downhill...
... Rumor has it Cam Wake had a hell of a game this past Thursday

If this is anyway true and this team loses high draft picks and has a complete regime change, what quality coach or GM would come? You think Cowher or even Gruden would want to join a team with players on suspensions and no first round pick?

Well it is not likely that Ireland would chose a good player with a 1st or 2nd round pick anyway.
This team cannot go any lower.

So people really think, they are going to suspend coaching for saying that Martin needs to be toughened up.

Yes, and more. If coach told Richie (who is not a team authority or a coach) to toughen Martin up, it meant to go and harrass him. You can't delegate authority in that manner to a player to go and kick other player's butt. You can't do that.

In comparing the Saints and Dolphins, he said that even though other teams may be doing the same thing it is the fact that each of them were "caught" doing it. Now that it is such a big story, the league has to make am example of the Dolphins to change the culture in the NFL. The fear seems to be what the reaction would be if the league did nothing. Wouldn't be the first time a team has been railroaded because outsiders with pitchforks.

Exactly, if all this goes down as Olbermann is saying, no quality coach will want to come here.

Just to toughen a player up ? were going to lose draft picks ?/ thats bull**** i mean the worst they should do is expell Philbin for 6 games and a fine , maybe , but noway should we lose draft picks over something like this , if anything Martin was hurt mentaly , not phyiscaly like the saints were doing , nobodys health was indangered at all , but imo if we were to lose draft picks and cap or something as serious as that , than Goodell should be impeached ,and ran out of the NFL , its bad enough that were working our asses off trying to build a SB Team and just as we get cap money ( first time in 20 years ) NOW **** LIKE THIS IS GOING TO COME DOWN ON OUR TEAM ?this is uncalled for and noway in hell should the Miami Dolphins org should have to suffer this kind of fate ,NOWAY ..AND if this dose happen Ross might as well sell the team and move to LA or something because it will be another 25 years before we will be able to compete again . im calling total bull**** //

Honestly, it's getting close to time to stop watching football if this is where it's heading.

Football is becoming FAKE just like WRESTLING , if you watch real close you can tell , just like when we was up 17-3 on the pats , and the refs call PI on Miami 2-3 times + some more bad calls , and yeah any given Sunday But noway in hell the Jests can beat the Saints , listen guys Vegas isnt going to lose in the betting system , football isnt like it was back in the 80s ,you can tell when you have watched enough Football when teams are throwing games to cover Vegas ass ,just like this past sunday when Seattle let the team they where playing get up by 28 points , and was -15 1/2 , and came back out in the 2nd half to win the game ?i mean football is fun to watch , and to root your Favorite team on , but if Vegas dosent want your team to win your not , mofia has even gotten involved in football , and when a college player takes money to help throw a game , its like they murdered somebody , but the NFL , Vegas exc . dose the same damn thing , its getting to where i dont really even wont to watch football anymore and ive been a fan since 83 , and every year it just keeps getting worse and worse .

Yeah right. This sounds like media fluff to get ratings. If the Dolphins lose draft picks, I'm bullying Olberman. :chuckle:

Olbermann is such an arrogant, ****y piece of ****. I've never been able to stomach watching him even before be was a puppet on MSNBC. ESPN did themselves a disservice hiring this assclown.

This is his second tour at the Mothership. His first was a tour as an anchor on Sportscenter.
