Pats vs Phins

Yet another classic. Tuck rule was called correctly. Regardless of jealous fans who only see through homer-colored glasses.

As for being dominant, I could care less. My family & friends got to experience one hell of a ride and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Losers make excuses, and that is what you're doing. You're better than that, but alas...

It has become oh-so-fashionable-and-trendy to bash the Patriots. Ho-Hum.

I guess the Raiders didn't have more than one 4th down to stop us. I guess that's why we beat an awesome Pitt team in Pitt. I guess that's why we kicked the Greatest Show On Turf in the teeth in footballk's biggest game.

You see, the Fins I remember were all business. Didn't need to put others down with words and whining cause they were too busy winning on the field themselves. That's where my respect for them comes from. This current crop with their crybaby fans has really been interesting to watch.

Anyway, talking trash is notmy thing. It's just the kids who cry "Tuck Rule" without knowing that it was called correctly that make me laugh. Not only that, but the Raiders had more chances to stop us than the Fins have traded draft picks for useless RBs.

First, my point being that I think us splitting the season isn't far fetched. 2ndly...I'm not whining. I have my opinion which I'm entitled to. I'm not making excuses. I call it like I see it. Just like the Pats applying what would be multiple penalties against the Colts receivers in a playoff game where refs don't call it cuz they're the Pats.....well...that's what happened. The NFL admitted it after review. So yes....in some ways everything went right for the Pats that one season. It's not me whining and complaining cuz I could care less really. That's just the way I saw that season....an angel on the Pats shoulders.

btw...it's not a fashion for me or trendy to now bash the pats....i've always disliked the AFCE teams....primarily cuz 2 are from New York and I haven't run into too many New Yorkers I like. But those are just my own experiences. If anything....it's been trendy to let the "winners" get away with more stuff as has been evidenced in the NBA as well (someone wrote a great article on this a few months ago and researched who was fouled more etc.)

Anyways, don't make me out to be some whiny 18 year old....cuz I'm not. If you don't like my opinion...oh well. I give credit where I see credit due. The "tuck rule" year.....give or take who cares....in or out...if that one play decided that year then that's wrong anyways....but u have to admit it sure caused one hell of a ruckus.

Because the bar is set very high for Saban coming in, especially by the fans, how amny years without a Super Bowl victory until he is fired or turned on by fans.

That question is not to say he won't win, but winning isn't guaranteed because you are an awesome coach. You guys could win it for all I know for the next 10 years. But, hypothetically, if he doesn't, what is the timeline?

You would get a bunch of differing opinions on here, but my guess??

3 years. It's not like we don't have the talent to do it THIS year. But I think with a new staff, new regime, etc..., it will take maybe 2 or 3 years. By then, watch out.
Saban will have his stamp on this franchise and we'll be in full swing.

Look, we may root for different teams, but I respect you BIG-TIME. It takes a lot to admit what goes against what you should root for & say.

It's fans like you that make these discussions great because we can talk football outside of what we want personally. Much respect.

Same for you, because you've admitted that Saban will be the man and you think Ronnie will be the $hit.

(personally, I think he compares well to Corey Dillon, yet, a bit faster and with better hands out of the backfield. )

This is not a put down to you, but you are 19. I remember Miami as one of the best and proudest organizations. Their fans I interacted with didn't stoop to these low tactics. It comes with losing. You guys were once the $hit.

Fair enough. But just to point out one incident that really p*ssed me off.. During the week leading up to the Colts-Pats Divisional playoff game this year, the media was talking alot about Manning and about how great of a season he had. And he kind of overshadowed Brady. Well, I'm sure you could have heard the whine of Patriot fans all the way over there in California. It was kind of like, well the world doesn't revolve around the Patriots, Manning had the best year of any QB ever. He deserved all the press he got.

Everyone from the Big Show to Fred Smerlas (biggest Patriots homer in the world) was b*tching about it. It's gonna be interesting to see how these people react when the Patriots don't come through for them in the future. They aren't used to that, and I expect the reaction to be quite similar.

No, I wasn't referring to you being that fan, but those fans in general. You're OK in my book. We just root for different teams.

As for the holding with the Colts. Let me ask you all a question, and be ready cause you're going to be in our boat with your new coach:

If you could do something within the game, something that may be called (and if it were you could pull back and stop) or not be called, but it would give you an advantage, would you want your coach to have your team do it if it gave you a chance to win? or would you rather not even try and go down losing instead of taking what is a very small window in the NFL to win?

Me? I'd wat to take everything to the limit. If they call us too much and want us to stop, we would, but until then, I'm going to do everything to win instead of holding the "that's not fair" flag. Just me though.

Hey, nothing is guaranteed in the NFL. It could be all over now for all I know. But as we've talked about before, I got to experience one hell of a ride with my family & friends.

And as for losing, well, that's something that Boston has become quite used to before '01. We had like 2 decades of terrible play. It makes you appreciate winning that much more.

Um, yeah, are you aware a football season is played between September & January. The "war" ends each season with something called the Super Bowl. The winner of that wins the war.

You should look into it. Your predecessors used to strive for it.

I'd agree with you short of "faking injuries" to sub players.....pushing the limits of the rules or a given crew of refs calls (some crews officate harder) is one thing....but that's just plain wrong in my book. I also put Denver's Oline on a VERY thin ice of playing extremely dirty quite often as their system teaches it. To win is one thing....to win and be respected is another.

Yeah, faking injuries are questionable, but if the refs are not going to call it, then I want my team doing anything to win.

As for the holding, let them tell you not to. Not going to put down your opinion though. I see your point. To me, there is such a small window to win that I want my guys doing anything to win outside of physically intending to injure someone.

It amased me that Indy wouldn't do the same to us. They'd rather carry the honor torch. Guess who remembers the honor torch 20 years later? Their still-angry fans, that's who. If they saw us holding and would rather whine then do it back then I have to question their coach, which is someone I respect greatly.

Look for much of the same with Saban. He is a very cunning coach who know he'll do whatever he can to win.

Well a worse case of manipulateing the rules would be the Broncos for those back to back super bowls...And it only cost them a pick 5 years down the road. I think any team would take that "punishment".
