PFF "Cumulative Quarterback Summary" for 2013

This is a new account. I appreciate the welcome but ive been here since 04. Relax the argument that your post count in some way elevates you to anything but the bottom of Finheaven's food chain. Nobody is impressed I assure you. I know you're not going anywhere but I hold hope that eventually you will actually "contribute" as well.

it has nothing to do w/ post count but don't come in here bashing me w/o any evidence to back it up when you barely contribute. Either lurk and read posts or contribute but don't bash those that help make this board as great as it is.

It is an honor thought that I inspire so many people to post.

He wasn't sacked that game because we were keeping more players in to block instead of lining them up as receivers. Let me tell you a thing or two about football:
Bad Oline -> Need more blockers -> TEs stay in to block -> leads to fewer receivers -> no sacks but also more difficult to complete passes because pass defense has too many defenders waiting for the ball.

The 2nd Jets game reminded me of Dan Henning calling a play action on 3rd and 10 against the Steelers and the only receiver on that play was Brandon Marshall. Against four defensive backs.

It all comes down to the Oline. And I bet we will see a much better Oline this year and hence a much more efficient Ryan Tannehill.

i believe Hartline also dropped 3 crucial passes as well.

If that were the case, Sherman would still be here and we would've attempted to fix the situation strictly via FA and the Draft.

Alas that is not the case. They needed to both change the offense and bring in a guy who has experience coaching up QB's ....... because Ryan needs it. So it's not "just about the O-line". That would be a severe oversimplification.

i think you are reading his post a little too literal. Yes, sherman was bad at playcalling, and practically wasting the talent he had, by not moving the pocket and creating mismatches, but there's nothing wrong with what spiff said. fix the oline, and tannehill will be better. Had sherman stayed, and the oline didn't allow 58 sacks, miami would more than likely be in the playoffs. Sherman was a big part of why miami's offense couldn't score, but the biggest was the poor oline. hence, the massive turnover in oline personel.

Adjust the filter on the PFF QB rankings to those who took at least 60% of the snaps and you weed out the backups with a couple good games.

T-Hill is now #5.

Now imagine where T-hill will be in 2014 with an OL. :hump:

Well it's very possible that we have the 7th best QB in the league, and our offense greatly underperformed as a sum of all the parts. That would explain perfectly why we still have Tannehill as our starter, got rid of our OC, and immediately put emphasis on our Oline with the Albert deal in FA. I am not saying I think Tannehill performed as the #7 QB in the NFL last year, but I don't think they brought in Lazor strictly to coach up Tannehill either.

Tannehill was solid last year but he was not the seventh best qb in the league. Pff is a very interesting site but not sure how all their analysis has made a rating system better than the one football already has in place.
He definitely wasn't better than Nick Foles last year that is beyond silly and shows a huge flaw in the pff ranking. He wasn't top 10 last year but definitely was not in bottom 10 as some people have tried to make him out to be.
He also wasn't better than Luck or quite a few others they ranked him ahead of.

Stats are great but sometimes context is way more important. I'm a big Tannehill fan and really think he'll come good. He passes the eye test with ease on everything but the deep ball and escaping pressure. However, the pressure I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt because a) it certainly improved later in the season and b) I still think Sherman had a lot to do with the way he was playing. So, yeah, I think we probably have our QB and we can sit back and watch him grow.

For balance though, it has to be said that Tannehill blew it in those last two games. Part of me believes that the best find a way and I strongly think an elite QB beats both the Bills and the Jets and Miami makes the post season. He again gets the benefit of the doubt though for me because the OL, regardless of what some stat site may say, was diabolical last season. We aren't talking bad, we're talking horrendous. At times, I found myself thinking Tannehill was lucky to survive. With that in mind, I think we beat a couple of the teams we lost to earlier in the year and wouldn't have been relying on winning in Buffalo etc.

As ever, we'll see. I'm looking forward to the new season to see how he goes. I expect him to improve again.

This board is great because the Miami Dolphins are historically a great organization and Dolphins fans are great fans. It has nothing to do with you. Nobody was bashing you, nor is evidence needed to back up my statements. Its easily the majority opinion here and even more so at Theganggreen. Don't like it? Make changes.

the posters make the site, not the team. the team has been one of the worst in football since this board has been around. what happened in the 70s means nothing to this board, the posters make the board not the team.

Besides perhaps Tom Brady, there isn't one quarterback in the AFC East I would rather over Ryan Tannehill.

The Patriots have currently the best quarterback in the division, the Dolphins have the next two best in Tannehill and Moore.

Lmao at Geno Smith. The guy is complete garbage and a joke to be playing in the NFL. He will be out of the league in a few years hahahaha.
