PFT: Rumors persist that Carl Peterson will be running the Dolphins

Everyone was worried Luck would pull an Eli with the wrong regime in place. Well, this looks like a good way to ensure that Luck ends up elsewhere to me...

I'm all for having a person who knows football in a position in which he hires, evaluates, and fires the GM and head coach, rather than making all that the job of an owner who doesn't know football.

I totally agree. Let Peterson become President or whatever the role Parcells had to hire and evaluate the GM and Coach. we need a football mind in there to make those decisions. Sure he gets a bum rap because he as ruthless, and players didn't get what they wanted.. but I'd rather than than Spielman any day.

Peterson knows what Ross wants. He wants a winner. Peterson is well respected in management football circles. He could definitely bring us the big name coach we need.

Parcells II - The Sequel

Idk why everyone is so down on Herm Edwards too? The guy has made the playoffs numerous times.

Herm wasn't bad, but he kind of did underachieve badly in his short time as Chiefs head coach. The team was built for Al Saunders' offense and Herm changed it to a more ground and pound that he used with the Jets.

The **** you guys crying about? Ross and Peterson are friends, Ross wants Andrew Luck or another Franchise QB, Peterson would make that happen. If anything we should all be touching are b-holes thinking about the possibility of Peterson doing what Ireland wouldn't do and that is trade up to get Andrew Luck.

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out. Only down fall is I' assume Peterson means no Cowher which I'm not sure I'm okay with.

And if he feels that way **** him.

Actually would probably mean the chances are better that Cowher comes here. Peterson and Cowher have history together.

Normally I'd agree. In this case, though, I think it would be the first sign to an eventual collapse of the regime, and more years of mediocrity for us. Peterson has always been one of those guys that wasn't well-liked by players. Apparently he was a complete douchebag and often times unreasonable. Everyone is complaining about Ireland and his tact, then they are on board with Peterson coming on and behaving the same way?

Further, is Peterson worth sacrificing the best QB of the generation? Honestly, Luck isn't being unreasonable. He doesn't want to play for a regime that are a bunch of *** hats. Can't really blame him there. This is a team with a rich history of success, especially at the QB position. If he doesn't want to play here, it's not because it's Miami. If he turns his back to the situation, you have to know there is a deep issue that isn't being made public.

Looking at this completely objectively, Peterson is bad for this organization. I'm tired of this shady behavior. I don't want to hear about players getting contract offers on sticky pads, players getting asked ridiculous questions in interviews, and constant reports that players don't like our front office. I don't know about the first two, but I know Peterson is going to be more of the same as far as pissing off potential players. Get a damn people person in there. Get someone who knows to get the damn job done ethically. Get someone who can put their damn pride aside and do things that are good for the team.

Also, how much advantage will having Peterson give us in regards to Cowher? The dude wants to hire his own GM and wants a hefty salary. Is Peterson going to cause him to budge on those demands? How long has it been since Peterson worked with Cowher? If Peterson is friends with Ross, wouldn't his endorsement for the job be enough? Why does he actually need to be employed by the organization to talk to Cowher? That particular aspect of this thing is being overplayed.

We need fresh blood. Honestly, I don't know enough about front offices to know who that would be. I do know that the successful teams now are the ones who leave the older generations behind. Hell, even the infallible Scott Pioli is suddenly looking pretty ordinary over there in KC. I say we bring in a fresh young face to run the team and find a hungry assistant coach in the Tomlin or Schwartz mold to pair with Luck...

If hiring Peterson means that Ireland is out and Cowher is on board..that would be a huge upgrade over what we have now.

I want to know JCane's thoughts, no one elses matter

Actually Oliver QB'ed in the 80s and no doubt has heard plenty about Peterson from a player's perspective. Depends on what he's heard, I'd think :idk:

Didn't know it was that recently. Well, I guess he'll have a pretty good idea of the kind of person Peterson is. If he is anything like the various reports that leaked say he is, Dolfan nation is going to descend into a mad house come the offseason...
